In my work, I particularly enjoy exploring elements of production design and lighting to create colourful fantasy worlds hidden within the mundane. I am fascinated by the classical cinema of Hollywood’s Golden Age and have adopted a similar acting style within my short films drawing on the passionate and physical performances from the likes of Audrey Hepburn and Cary Grant. During my completion of a Cert 3/4 in screen and media in 2020, I worked with the medium of music video learning how to direct a project that heroes sound design and follows an aesthetically driven narrative, an inherently different structure to a traditional linear narrative film. My 2021 short film played with the idea of materialistic success and status by presenting the story of a paranoid schizophrenic obsessed with becoming Hollywood icon Marilyn Monroe while my 2022 film earlier this year centred around a modern-day meet-cute inspired by the traditional tragic romance films end in disappointment. My most recent short iPhone film aimed to deconstruct the gender roles and expectations of a 1960s inspired relationship in a way that was experimental and driven by montage.
