Cacophony is a curated online platform and live screening series in LA and NY showcasing short films by emerging filmmakers, emphasizing nervy, risky, singular, and yes sometimes noisy and chaotic cinema. While Cacophony is not an exclusive platform, expect to find films unavailable elsewhere.

FAQ
Q: What rights or clearances do I need?
A: All of 'em. Judge Judy isn't what it used to be; let us all avoid getting sued.
Q: What's the max runtime accepted?
A: At the moment Cacophony is focusing on short films, so 40 minutes and under. At some point, longs may be featured too, but for now, think shorter. Keep in mind: A film should always be as long as it needs to be.
Q: Do you accept films that utilize AI?
A: Do you?
Q: You call yourself Cacophony. Do you only select films that are noisy and chaotic?
A: Nope! Noise is subjective; lots of ways to make it.
Q: Do you require premiere status?
A: Nope! Cacophony is not an exclusive platform.
Q: Does recency of completion date matter?
A: For online, no; films from any point in time are acceptable. For in-person screenings, films have a better shot at selection if they're at the beginning or in the midst of their festival runs, or if they're not yet available online.
Q: Are you watching submissions all the way through?
A: Yes, it's our one job.
Q: Do you provide feedback on submissions?
A: No. But if you are interested in creative consultation from the Cacophony team, email info@cacophonyfilm.com and make sure to put "Consultation Request" in the subject line. Please note: This is a separate and independent professional service from the Cacophony platform and does not guarantee acceptance at a later date.
Q: How long do I have to wait to hear back after I submit?
A: Expect to hear back within one or two months of submitting.
Q: If selected, when will my film be featured on the site?
A: Scheduling is flexible, so if you want to wait until your festival run is over, or another date for any reason, that's perfectly acceptable. Otherwise, films will typically be featured within two months of acceptance.
