Breckenridge Film Festival is one of the oldest festivals in the country, originating in 1981.

Breck Film Fest is "the filmmaker's film festival," proven by selections by USA Today as a Top 20 Film Festival and consistent rankings by FilmFreeway as a Top 100 Reviewed Film Festival. The Breckenridge Film Festival provides an opportunity for filmmakers in many genres to express themselves and interact with audiences in a laid back atmosphere. Film-lovers gather in Breckenridge for unprecedented access to independent films, special screenings and exclusive premieres - and the filmmakers behind them!

The festival occurs as the leaves turn brilliant shades of yellow and gold - the best time of year in Summit County, Colorado. Breckenridge was named the best small town in Colorado by Country Living Magazine in 2017 and earned the No. 1 spot in 2017's Arts Vibrancy Index for Small Cities by SMU's National Center for Arts Research.

Films are presented alongside educational workshops and children's programs. Writers, directors, producers, and performing artists attend to discuss their work with audiences in post-film Q&As, receptions, and panels. We welcome and appreciate the creative talents of all the filmmakers we've met over the years and look forward to meeting more!

  • It was wonderful coming to Breck and screening 'Infraction'. I had an absolutely fantastic time in this beautiful town highly elevated in the mountains. The festival provided accommodation at Beaver Run which not only helped to facilitate the journey but also made the stay enjoyable. I was encouraged and inspired by my remarkable local liaisons Kathy and Don; we had a blast hanging out! Thank you to the Breck team for making all of this possible for me and so many other filmmakers.

An outstanding festival experience in a gorgeous setting . The Breck Film staff was very communicative months leading into the fest and they replied to emails and answered questions right away. The festival staff clearly cared about the filmmakers' and Breck community's experience. The staff put filmmakers up at a hotel / ski resort for two nights during the fest and they had food and drink at events throughout the weekend. I was assigned a filmmaker liaison who checked in on me throughout the weekend and gave me restaurant recommendations. One afternoon they even led visitors on a filmmaker hike! My short Lunch Tattoo screened in the comedy block this year and I definitely plan to submit another short to this fest in the future. I made lots of connections and new friends. I highly recommend submitting to this fest!

Was honored to have a short screen at the Breck Film Fest and took advantage to attend. All of the screening venues for the festival were excellent, you won't get a bed sheet and projector with this crowd. Each night there was an event to attend, and the festival staff were incredible. The festival assigns a liason to each filmmaker, which was super helpful navigating the festival and getting good tips on how to most enjoy Breck. Lovely festival, with a lovely backdrop. I can't wait to attend again.

  • This festival was fantastic throughout. The films curated were amazing and we were honored to be a part of the curation. The organizers made a tremendous effort to make sure the filmmakers were welcomed and treated wonderfully. To have our own liaison is incredible and made things so much easier to navigate. This is such a sweet and friendly little town with the beautiful mountains as our backdrop. I would definitely submit my next film to this gem of a festival.

This festival is fantastic. It's a true filmmakers' festival with as much emphasis on creating opportunities for fellow creatives to connect as they put into having big crowds and sold-out shows. The calibre of films is next level as well; they curate a diverse and engaging lineup of films that leave you inspired, laughing out loud or experiencing a total paradigm shift of your views on the world and those we share it with. Every film we saw was terrific. If you're lucky enough to be selected to show in the festival, make the pilgrimage to Breckenridge to be there in person; it's a treat.
