Breckenridge Film Festival is one of the oldest festivals in the country, originating in 1981.

Film-lovers gather for unprecedented access to independent films, special screenings and premieres exclusive to Breckenridge - and the film-makers behind them!

The festival occurs as the leaves turn brilliant shades during the best time of the year in Summit County, in the town that earned the No. 1 spot in 2017's Arts Vibrancy Index for Small Cities by SMU's National Center for Arts Research. Breckenridge was also named the best small town in Colorado by Country Living Magazine in 2017.

The Breckenridge Film Festival provides an opportunity for filmmakers in many genres to express themselves and interact with audiences in a laid back casual atmosphere and to mingle with and make contacts with industry professionals. Films are presented alongside educational workshops and events. Writers, directors, producers and performing artists attend to discuss their work with audiences in informal sessions following film screenings, at receptions and film forums. We welcome and appreciate the creative talents of all the filmmakers we've met over the years and look forward to meeting more.

Breck Film Fest is "the filmmaker's film festival," proven by selections by USA Today as a Top 20 Film Festival and by FilmFreeway as a Top 100 Reviewed Film Festival.

NOTE: We offer lodging to attending filmmakers on a first-come, first-served, limited basis once films are selected and attendance is confirmed. Selected filmmakers will receive notification of lodging availability.

ADDITIONAL NOTE: We invite distributors and media representatives to join us at the festival.

  • I wasn't able to attend the Breck Film Festival in person, however, my experience with having my film 'Living on the Line' selected for the festival was absolutely wonderful! It was such a well-organized festival, communication was excellent and it was great to feel a part of it all online. Thank you to the team behind it all!!

I was very humbled and thankful to show my film at the Breck Film Fest in 2021. The overall experience was amazing. The fest offered to lodge filmmakers if needed, the events were really fun and the multiple screens around the small city made it a community event. The networking was great and the volunteers did a wonderful job. I can't recommend this event more and look forward to attending future Breck Film Fests.

  • Breckenridge film festival is truly the unique experience it's advertised as. It has the feeling and vibe of a small community festival where you get to know everyone, and it's intimate and pleasant. But the scale of the talent on display is truly something to be record. Rately have I felt so privileged to be in the company of my fellow filmmakers.
