Bilderbeben is a shortfilm competition with annual changing topic in Bielefeld.
The competition is organized and hosted by Filmhaus Bielefeld.

This year's topic is "Heul Doch" .

The show takes place in a theatre in bielefeld, germany with about 400 seats. The main section is slectioned by the jury and contains about 25 films. The audience is called to chose the best film besides the decisions of the jury and donates a special price. Filmhaus also chooses the best film coming from a regional filmmaker. The winner has the opportunity to use the equipment of Filmhaus for his next project. The festival aimes to establish a network of filmmakers in order to improve productions besides the media metropoles.

The total award is 1.500 Euros, separated between the three best films. The best film get's a sculpture "Der kleine Plumpe" named after famous director F.W. Murnau, born in Bielefeld under the name of Plumpe.

The topic or theme of your film has to be "HEUL DOCH". Films can have a lenght of maximaly 5 minutes. Films may not be finished before 2022.

- Two words that can devalue, belittle, provoke. Or become resistance. To the answer. An attitude.
But what if we reinterpret this sentence? What if “HEUL DOCH” is no longer an expression of mockery, but a call for honesty? An invitation to show your feelings - loudly, quietly, angrily, sadly or full of joy?
We want to know what you make of it. A slap in the face as a sentence? A liberation? A silent protest? Loud, quiet, absurd, tender or grotesque - anything goes.
You don't have to be political. Not psychological. Not correct.
But you may. And you can.
Because tears are multi-layered. We cry when we feel lonely, when we are powerless, overwhelmed or deeply touched. Tears flow at loss, but also at the birth of a new life. At goodbyes, at new beginnings. At the soundtrack of our favorite movie. Crying is not just pain - it is also liberation, connection, humanity.
Shoot a short film on the subject. We want stories, not explanations. Images that resonate. Films that ask more questions than they answer.
