Mr. Kevin Richards is a thought leader in climate and digital finance, the blue economy and international shipping. He is the Managing Director of Bermuda Asset Management, a legacy family business providing advisory services to family offices and investment funds focused on the sustainable transition.

Mr. Richards is the founder of Bermuda Global Holdings Ltd., a special purpose vehicle created to accelerate the sustainable transition in Bermuda through the issuance of blue bonds. Bermuda’s economic diversification strategy is to foster innovation and technology to build a sustainable, thriving, innovative island ecosystem. Mr. Richards wanted to showcase this innovative groundswell that had been taking place in Bermuda for the last 10 years, through the lens of an ocean-based cultural story.

Bermuda’s financial and regulatory system is extremely attractive for early-stage technology companies looking for internationally recognized regulation in digital finance or last-mile testing of oceantech and marine related energy solutions. Mr. Richards believes that the ability to test innovative technology within a regulatory sandbox, offer unique advantages for early-stage climate-tech and climate finance companies to prove their technology and scale globally.

Mr. Richards is a member of the UK’s Institute of Directors (IoD), and a graduate of the 2023 New York cohort of the Black Boardroom Initiative, focused on diversifying public company boards. Mr. Richards is the Founder and Chairperson of the Bermuda Innovation & Technology Association (BITA), Director of the Bermuda Institute of Ocean Science (BIOS), Zero Hash Worldwide, a fully licensed digital asset business, and the Council Partners Endowment Trust.

After building a stellar reputation at Chubb and General Electric in London and Toronto, Mr. Richards returned to Bermuda in 2015 with a public private partnership, with a focus on developing Bermuda's international commerce and technology industries to stimulate long-term economic diversification.

Since returning to Bermuda, Mr. Richards has been heavily involved in the maritime sector, serving on the Boards of the Bermuda International Shipping Association (BISA) and the Bermuda Shipping & Maritime Authority (BSMA). Before starting a career in business, Mr. Richards was the first student-athlete at the University of Notre Dame to be drafted in the Major League Soccer (MLS) Superdraft, and has represented the Bermuda national football (soccer) team in two World Cup campaigns.
