Biography
Ružica Anja Tadić is a film director, born in Belgrade, Serbia, in the year 1994. She has been growing up surrounded by actors as her family are actors from National Theatre Belgrade. Her first touch with making films was with her brother Rastko Tadić (today a director), who got a MiniDV camera as a present. Around age eight they started showing family and friends the short films they made in the neighbourhood. These were costumed crime scenes usually inspired by Coppola’s Godfather. Telling stories became her main occupation and after High school, she enrolled in the University of Philology to study the History of literature and theory. Not too much time passed for her to discover that film and theatre were still seducing her. She moved to the city of Novi Sad where she finished her Bachelor's and Master's at the Academy of Dramatic Arts Novi Sad in the course Multimedia directing.
Her interests are topics of social oppression and creating films that draw inspiration from collective experience. So far, she has directed eleven short films in different genres. She participated as a representative of the Serbian team in the international project Studio DAHD (Danube Artistic Heritage Development) with a video-art installation that is today part of the exhibition of the Danube Museum in Ulm, Germany.
In 2022, she started developing her first feature film Pear in the Mud at the Torino Film Next program and she was a member of the Director's Summit at the Talents Sarajevo. With her last short film “Newbie”, she participated in the FILM+ program Production Lab. She received a scholarship from East Side Institute’s Social Therapy Studies where she explores the possible methodology for developing scripts in collaboration with communities.
She teaches and helps young amateurs from Novi Sad express themselves through filmmaking at the Art Kvart Start school organised by Novo kulturno naselje. Occasionally she rides a kayak. In short, she is a cinephile, an avid traveller, a team worker and a researcher.
