Ariel is a filmmaker and storyteller from New Mexico, with a deep love for bringing unique narratives to life. With a background in Sociology, she found her way into the film industry in 2011, starting as an intern and working her way up to become a seasoned location manager. Along the way, she’s collaborated with A24, Netflix, Sony, and Lionsgate on projects like Sicario, The Curse, and Pluribus.
Her years in location management gave her an intimate understanding of the logistical puzzle that is filmmaking, problem-solving on the fly, fostering collaboration, and making sure all the moving pieces come together. At her core, Ariel has always been a storyteller, from scrappy high school projects shot on borrowed Sony handycam to her latest directorial work, she’s drawn to narratives that highlight multifaceted women and untold stories in fresh, compelling ways.
Committed to honing her craft, she’s trained in Sundance Co//ab’s Directing: Core Elements, Visual Storytelling, and Directing Actors programs, among others. Her directorial debut, Solstice, screened at festivals nationwide in 2021. She is currently in post-production on The Agency, a 19-page short film shot as a single continuous take. Alongside filmmaking, she is developing Badass Women in Film, a nonfiction podcast featuring honest, insightful conversations about women’s experiences in the industry.
