Animanima 2026 – IMPORTANT NOTICE

DEAR SUBMITTERS, WE INFORM YOU THAT THE ANIMANIMA FESTIVAL, UNFORTUNATELLY, DUE TO BUDGET PROBLEMS, WILL NOT HAVE COMPETITION PROGRAMS IN 2026.

WE WOULD ALSO LIKE TO THANK ALL THOSE WHO SUBMITTED FILMS IN THE EARLY STAGES BEFORE WE HAD TO STOP SUBMISSIONS, EVEN THOUGH WE, REGRETFULLY, CANNOT ACCEPT THEIR FILMS.

THE NEXT EDITION OF THE ANIMANIMA FESTIVAL WILL TAKE PLACE IN 2028, AND WE SINCERELY HOPE THAT BY THEN THE SITUATION WILL NORMALIZE AND IMPROVE TO THE EXTENT THAT WE WILL AGAIN BE ABLE TO HAVE THE FESTIVAL EDITION WE WERE USED TO AND WERE PROUD OF.

Rules & Terms

GENERAL TERMS

▪ The competition program has two categories:
1) Graduation film and first professional film
2) Films for children aged 6 to 10 years.
▪ Only films made after 1st January 2025 can be entered.
▪ No entry fee is charged for the film submissions.
▪ Works in any available animation techniques are accepted. For any film that represents a combination of animation and live action, the overall animated segment must be at least 50% of the total length of the film.
▪ The maximum duration of the film for the competition programs is up to 15 minutes
▪ Films for the competition program are shortlisted by the Festival’s Art Director in collaboration with the Festival’s program producer and Festival Council.
▪ Some of the films that are not selected for the competition program may be included upon suggestion of the Festival's Art Director either into the non-competitive programs - World Panorama or a curatorial program.

SCREENING FORMATS

▪ Format acceptable for festival screening is: DCP (flat or scope) or full HD video file (minimum data stream 6000 kB/s, stereo sound or 5.1)
▪ Any films featuring non-English dialogues must have an English subtitle.
▪ For the films featuring English dialogues, it is necessary to supply the dialogue list, at the following e-mail address: executive@animanima.org
▪ For trailer of your film to be published at ANIMANIMA web site, it is necessary to supply the ONLINE (Vimeo, YouTube) link. Links are to be sent at: executive@animanima.org
▪ The links for downloading selected films for screenings are to be sent at: executive@animanima.org
