RULES AND REGULATIONS
The ANIMAGE – 16th International Animation Festival of Pernambuco will take place from November 20 to 29, 2026, in the city of Recife, Pernambuco, Brazil.
The ANIMAGE Festival program includes screenings of national and international animated films in the Competitive Short Film Screening, Competitive Feature Film Screening, and non-competitive Special Screening of shorts and features. The program of ANIMAGE Conecta, its international animation film market, includes masterclasses, meetups, talks, panels, roundtables, interviews, pitch sessions, workshops, and a conference.
1 - ORGANIZATION
The ANIMAGE - 16th International Animation Festival of Pernambucois produced by Rec-Beat Produções and Leão Produções, companies duly registered and regulated in Brazil.
2 - COMPETITIVE SCREENING – CATEGORIES
2.1 – Short Film – Films with a running time of up to 40 minutes (including credits)
2.2 – Children’s Short Film – Films aimed at children, with a running time of up to 40 minutes (including credits)
2.3 – Student Short Film – Films with a running time of up to 40 minutes (including credits) produced by students or schools
2.4 – Feature Film – Films with a running time of more than 41 minutes (including credits)
THE FESTIVAL RESERVES THE RIGHT TO DETERMINE WHETHER A WORK QUALIFIES FOR THE SELECTED COMPETITION CATEGORY.
3 – AWARDS
3.1 – The awards will be determined by the Festival’s Official Jury, composed of three (3) members invited by the festival’s direction, including filmmakers, critics, and professionals from cinema and the arts who have no direct connection with the works presented in the competition.
3.2 – The jurors will be responsible for selecting the films to be awarded* in the following categories:
3.2.1 – BEST FEATURE FILM – Award: ANIMAGE Trophy + R$ 8,000.00 (Eight Thousand Brazilian Reais)
3.2.2 – BEST SHORT FILM – AGREAT ANIMAGE AWARD – Award: ANIMAGE Trophy + R$ 8,000.00 (Eight Thousand Brazilian Reais)
3.2.3 – BEST CHILDREN’S SHORT FILM – Award: ANIMAGE Trophy + R$ 8,000.00 (Eight Thousand Brazilian Reais)
3.2.4 – BEST BRAZILIAN SHORT FILM – Award: ANIMAGE Trophy + R$ 8,000.00 (Eight Thousand Brazilian Reais)
3.2.5 – BEST SHORT FILM – AUDIENCE AWARD – Award: ANIMAGE Trophy*
3.2.6 – BEST STUDENT SHORT FILM – Award: ANIMAGE Trophy
3.2.7 – BEST DIRECTION – Award: ANIMAGE Trophy
3.2.8 – BEST SCREENPLAY – Award: ANIMAGE Trophy
3.2.9 – BEST ART DIRECTION – Award: ANIMAGE Trophy
3.2.10 – BEST ANIMATION TECHNIQUE – Award: ANIMAGE Trophy
3.2.11 – BEST SOUND MIXING – Award: ANIMAGE Trophy
*The jurors will be responsible for selecting the awarded films in all competing categories, except for the AUDIENCE AWARD, which will be chosen exclusively by the event audience through direct voting.
3.3 - The decisions of both the jury and the audience are final and may not be appealed.
3.4 - Additional monetary prizes, if any, will be announced on the festival’s official website prior to the start of the event.
3.5 - The cash prizes established in this regulation refer to the gross value of the award. The net amount to be paid will be subject to tax deductions and transfer fees required by Brazilian law, as well as bank transfer expenses. Award recipients must provide an invoice corresponding to the awarded amount. In the case of a Brazilian invoice, it must be issued by a Brazilian company operating in the artistic and/or cultural field, as defined in its bylaws, and in good standing with federal, state, and municipal tax authorities. FOR MONETARY PRIZES, THE AMOUNT WILL BE PAID TO THE DIRECTOR(S) OF THE AWARDED FILM OR TO A COMPANY INDICATED BY THEM THROUGH A LETTER OF AUTHORIZATION.
3.6 – ANIMAGE’s organization may, at its discretion, establish awards or honorable mentions for individuals and/or works it considers important or relevant to the Festival, as a form of recognition and encouragement for animation film production.
3.7 – Producers and directors of awarded films must mention the name of the prize, the year, and ANIMAGE Festival in all promotional material related to the film. The award laurel file will be sent to the recipients in digital format.

5 - ENROLLMENT AND MATERIAL REMITTANCE
5.1 - Only short films completed on or after January 1, 2025 will be accepted. For feature films, only those completed on or after January 1, 2024 will be accepted.
5.2 - The enrollment is free of charge and must be done online, using the submission form available on https://filmfreeway.com/ANIMAGEFestival (FilmFreeway). The person in charge of the registration must have rights of exhibition of the film and for indicating the data for payment of the premium, being responsible for the receipt and transfer.
5.3 - Attention: For short films, only submissions in HD format (1920x1080 or higher), with a .MOV extension and H.264 codec and/or unencrypted DCP, will be accepted. For feature films, only DCP submissions, encrypted or not, will be accepted. All files must be submitted digitally via a downloadable link on a free or paid platform, with any associated costs borne by the person responsible for the submission.
5.4 - Films submitted in previous editions of the festival will not be accepted.
5.5 - Taking into account that internet access is limited in some countries, it is allowed in this case to send the film(s) by mail in HD format (1920x1080) or higher resolution, using the extension .MOV and codec H264), on portable storage units (USB flash drive, external hard drive, among others) or DVD (in data format).
5.6 - The Festival reserves the right to refuse a screening copy of dubious technical conditions that may cause problems during the screening.
5.7 - CONCERNING FILMS SENT BY MAIL:
5.7.1 - The shipping costs and tax fees on the material for selection are to be paid by the sender. The Festival board will not pay customs rates. The sender must exclusively bear the entire expenses correspondent to selectable material shipping.
5.7.2 - Works submitted after the enrollment deadline will not be considered by the Festival’s Selection Committee.
5.7.3 -If a registered film sent by mail is shipped out of a foreign country, we request the following declaration to be written on the envelope: "FILM/VIDEO FOR CULTURAL PURPOSES ONLY - NO COMMERCIAL VALUE". Declare maximum package value of US$ 1, 00.
5.7.4 - The shipping costs and tax fees on the material for selection are to be paid by the sender. Any film received with consignment to be collected will be returned.

5.8 - The selected film files MUST NOT HAVE subtitles printed on vídeo.
5.9 - Each participant can enroll as many works as wanted, each one with its own separate enrollment form and technical information form. If it is the case of a mail-sent material, all the films are allowed to be shipped all together, on the same envelope.
5.10 - In no event are paid exhibition fees or exhibition rights for the selected or invited films by the Festival.
5.11 - Films containing dialogues in languages other than Portuguese or English must include Portuguese or English subtitles upon submission in order to be evaluated by the Selection Committee.
5.12 - Applicants have the right to cancel their submission only until the final film submission deadline; after this date, withdrawal will no longer be possible.
6 - SELECTION
6.1 - The festival direction is responsible for overseeing the selection process.
6.2 - A Selection Committee, chosen by the Festival board, will avouch for the films selection on each category.
6.3 - The selected films will be announced on the Festival’s website and social media on July 30, 2026 for public consultation.
6.4 - The Festival is responsible for the subtitling of all the selected foreign films that contain dialogue, narration, charts or musical score that may be relevant to the understanding of the work, in any other language than Portuguese. In order to make this possible, it is mandatory the remittance of the original script, with timecode indications, while the online enrollment is made.
6.5 - The Festival organization will notify only the selected films by email. The full list of selected films will be published on the Festival’s official website and social media channels, according to the dates established in Section 4 – Deadlines and Dates.
7 – DEVOLUTION OF SENT MATERIAL
Participants agree and accept that all materials submitted for selection will not be returned. These materials will become part of the ANIMAGE Festival archive, solely for internal purposes, to document festival activities and for internal research.
8 – SCREENINGS
All files will be previously tested by the Festival board, after the transfer and/or download process is finished. In event of technical issues concerning sent material, participants must send a new version, following our technical specific outlines.
9 – INVITATIONS
The ANIMAGE organization may invite filmmakers to participate in the festival. The feasibility and number of invitations will be determined by the festival direction.
10 - GENERAL CONDITIONS
10.1 - Short animated films created using any animation technique will be accepted, whether produced for cinema, television, or online platforms.
10.2 - Films using frame-by-frame animation techniques are eligible, including combinations with live action and documentary. Animation must represent at least 75% of the film’s total running time. ANIMAGE reserves the right to determine whether a work qualifies as animation.
10.3 - Directors that wish to enroll films on ANIMAGE FESTIVAL must agree on transferring to Rec-Beat Discos and Artistic Productions and Leão Productions the right of, without any charge, exhibit and divulge, in any kind of media, film's images (pictures and excerpts preferably trailers or teasers up to 30 seconds for short films and up to 2 minutes for feature films), by Rec-Beat itself or others, at any time, without no limitation on how many times these excerpts will be used. No kind of amends or remuneration can be demanded by the participants.
10.4 - The participants must be fully responsible for the use of other's musical scores or images in their films, as well as any onus related to copyright infringement. Each applicant declares to be the author or rights owner of the submitted film(s) and to own all literary, dramatic and musical rights and gives them to the festival for use free of charge for the purpose of competing at the festival. The producers and directors of award-winning films can mention the name of the prize, the year and the name of the festival.
10.5 - The Festival board is not responsible for any miscarriage and other material shipping costs necessary to the enrollment.
10.6 - The board is also not responsible for works that, for any technical reason, may not be able to be reproduced or the ones that are not followed by the enrollment form filled correctly and completely. Thus, test your FILE/DVD before sending it, and check all the documentation for mistakes.
10.7 - The successful enrollment of a film in ANIMAGE Festival depends on full acceptance of these Rules and Regulations. A film that is submitted and subsequently selected for the Competitive Screening cannot, under any circumstances, be withdrawn, and its exhibition at ANIMAGE cannot be denied.
10.8 - The Festival’s board is the one and only responsible for the programme picking and scheduling, and a group of professionals is designated to each specific function to do so.
10.9 - The special cases that may not be represented on these Rules and Regulations will be analyzed by the board of ANIMAGE - 16th International Animation Festival, and the decisions taken by this board are sovereign. Therefore, the board bears total civic responsibility for the implications of its decisions.
10.10 – In the event of force majeure situations that prevent the festival from taking place on the scheduled dates, the organizers reserve the right to change the dates or format of the event, informing the participants accordingly.

O ANIMAGE – 16º Festival Internacional de Animação de Pernambuco, será realizado de 20 a 29 de novembro de 2026, na cidade do Recife/PE, Brasil.
A programação do Festival ANIMAGE inclui exibição de filmes de animação nacionais e internacionais distribuídos entre Mostra Competitiva de Curtas, Mostra Competitiva de Longas, e Mostras Especiais não competitivas de curtas e longas. A programação do ANIMAGE Conecta, seu mercado internacional de cinema de animação, inclui masterclasses, meetups, debates, painéis, mesas, entrevistas, pitchings, oficinas e conferência.
1 - ORGANIZAÇÃO
O ANIMAGE – 16º Festival Internacional de Animação de Pernambuco é uma realização da Rec-Beat Produções e Leão Produções, empresas registradas e regulamentadas no Brasil.
2 - MOSTRA COMPETITIVA - CATEGORIAS
2.1 - Curta-Metragem – Filmes com duração de até 40 minutos (incluindo os créditos)
2.2 - Curta-Metragem Infantil – Filmes direcionados ao público infantil com duração de até 40 minutos (incluindo os créditos)
2.3 - Curta-Metragem Estudantil – Filmes com duração de até 40 minutos (incluindo os créditos) realizados por estudantes e escolas
2.4 - Longa-Metragem – Filmes com mais de 41 minutos de duração (incluindo os créditos)
O FESTIVAL RESERVA-SE O DIREITO DE DETERMINAR SE UMA OBRA SE QUALIFICA PARA A CATEGORIA DE COMPETIÇÃO ESCOLHIDA.
3 - PREMIAÇÃO
3.1 - A premiação será definida pelo Júri Oficial do festival, composto por 03 (três) integrantes convidados pela direção do evento, entre realizadores, críticos e profissionais de cinema e artes, que não tenham relação direta com as obras apresentadas na competição.
3.2 - Os jurados responderão pela escolha dos filmes que serão premiados* nas seguintes categorias e da seguinte forma:

*Os jurados responderão pela escolha dos filmes premiados em todas as categorias concorrentes, exceto na categoria PRÊMIO DO PÚBLICO, cuja escolha será exclusiva do público do evento, por meio de voto direto.
3.3 - Das decisões do júri e do público não caberá recurso.
3.4 - Demais prêmios em valores pecuniários, caso haja, serão anunciados no site oficial do festival, em data anterior ao início do evento.
3.5 - Os prêmios em dinheiro estipulados neste regulamento referem-se ao valor bruto do prêmio. O valor líquido a ser pago estará sujeito a descontos de impostos e taxas previstos pelas leis brasileiras e de despesas bancárias de remessa. Os premiados deverão apresentar nota fiscal ou invoice no valor da premiação. No caso da nota fiscal, deverá ser de uma empresa brasileira com atuação na área artística e/ou cultural, definida em estatuto, idônea e regularizada perante o Fisco Federal, Estadual e Municipal. PARA OS PRÊMIOS MONETÁRIOS, O VALOR SERÁ PAGO AO DIRETOR (OU DIRETORES) DO FILME PREMIADO OU À EMPRESA POR ELE INDICADA POR MEIO CARTA DE ANUÊNCIA.
3.6 - A organização do ANIMAGE poderá, se assim desejar, instituir prêmios ou menção honrosa para personalidades e/ou trabalhos que considere importantes e relevantes para o Festival e também como valorização e estímulo à produção de cinema de animação.
3.7 - Os produtores e diretores dos filmes premiados devem mencionar o nome do prêmio, o ano e o nome do ANIMAGE em todo o material promocional do filme. O arquivo contendo os louros de premiação será enviado aos candidatos em formato digital.

5 - INSCRIÇÃO E ENVIO DE MATERIAL
5.1 - Só serão aceitas inscrições de curtas-metragens realizados a partir de 1 de janeiro de 2025. Para longas-metragens, a partir de 1 de janeiro de 2024.
5.2 - A inscrição é gratuita e deverá ser feita exclusivamente através do formulário disponível no site https://filmfreeway.com/ANIMAGEFestival (plataforma FilmFreeway). O responsável pela inscrição deverá deter os direitos de exibição da obra. No caso de ter a obra contemplada com prêmio em dinheiro, o responsável pela inscrição responderá pela indicação dos dados para pagamento do referido prêmio, responsabilizando-se pelo recebimento e repasse, se for o caso. Se a pessoa responsável pela inscrição tiver alguma dificuldade com o idioma da plataforma orientamos utilizar o tradutor do seu navegador ou entrar em contato conosco pelo email informado no final deste regulamento.
5.3 - Atenção: Para curtas, somente serão aceitos filmes enviados em formato HD (1920x1080 ou superior), com extensão .MOV e codec H.264 e/ou DCP não-criptografado. Para longas, somente serão aceitos filmes enviados DCP, criptografados ou não. Todos os arquivos devem ser enviados digitalmente através de link para download em plataforma gratuita ou paga com custos arcados pelos responsáveis pela inscrição.
5.4 - Não serão aceitos filmes inscritos em edições anteriores do festival.
5.5 - Somente no caso de países em que o acesso a internet é limitado ou restrito, o envio do(s) filme(s) poderá ser realizado via Correios, em unidade de armazenamento móvel (pen drive, hd, entre outros) ou em DVD (exclusivamente em formato de dados) em formato HD (1920x1080) ou superior, extensão .MOV e codec H264.
5.6 - O Festival reserva-se o direito de recusar uma cópia de triagem de condições técnicas que possam apresentar problemas durante a exibição.
5.7 - PARA ENVIO VIA CORREIOS
5.7.1 - Os impostos e taxas incidentes sobre a remessa de material para seleção serão de responsabilidade do remetente. A organização do festival não pagará taxas aduaneiras. Todas as despesas decorrentes de envio do material para inscrição serão de responsabilidade exclusiva do remetente.
5.7.2 - O material que chegar após a data limite para as inscrições não será avaliado pela comissão de seleção do festival.
5.7.3 - Atenção: No caso do envio pelos Correios de inscrição do exterior, solicitamos que no envelope conste a declaração: "FILM/VIDEO FOR CULTURAL PURPOSES ONLY - NO COMMERCIAL VALUE". Declare o valor máximo de US$ 1,00 (um dólar americano).
5.7.4 - As despesas de transporte das cópias e de alfândega decorrentes do envio de material de inscrição serão responsabilidade do concorrente. Qualquer filme recebido com remessa à cobrar será devolvido.
5.7.5 - O endereço do destinatário que deverá constar no envelope é:

5.8 - Os arquivos de exibição dos filmes selecionados NÃO DEVERÃO CONTER legendas impressas no vídeo.
5.9 - Cada participante poderá inscrever quantas obras desejar, sendo necessárias fichas de inscrição e fichas técnicas devidamente preenchidas para cada uma das obras, separadamente. Para os casos de envio via Correios, o material poderá ser enviado em conjunto, no mesmo envelope.
5.10 - Em nenhuma hipótese serão pagas taxas ou direitos de exibição para os filmes selecionados para a mostra competitiva do festival.
5.11 - Os filmes que possuam diálogos e que não estejam em língua portuguesa ou inglesa deverão apresentar legendas em português ou inglês na inscrição para que possam ser avaliados pela Comissão de Seleção.
5.12 - O candidato tem o direito de cancelar a inscrição apenas até o prazo final para envio de filmes; após esse prazo, a retirada não será mais possível.
6 - SELEÇÃO
6.1 - A Direção do festival é responsável por supervisionar o processo de seleção.
6.2 - A comissão de seleção do festival será responsável pela seleção dos filmes em cada categoria. Os membros e membras da comissão serão escolhidos pela direção do festival, assegurando uma variedade de opiniões e promovendo paridade e diversidade no processo de seleção.
6.3 - Os filmes selecionados serão divulgados nas redes sociais e website do Festival no dia 30 de julho de 2026 para consulta pública. Apenas o(s) responsável(eis) pela inscrição dos trabalhos selecionados receberão a comunicação oficial por e-mail. Não caberá recurso das decisões da comissão de seleção.
6.4 - O festival se responsabiliza pela legendagem de todos os filmes estrangeiros selecionados que contenham diálogo, narração, cartela ou músicas que sejam relevantes ao entendimento da obra, em idioma diferente do português. Para tanto, é obrigatório enviar o texto original, com indicação de minutagem/timecode, durante o processo de inscrição online.
6.5 - A organização notificará por email apenas os filmes selecionados. O resultado da seleção será divulgado nas nossas redes sociais e site do evento conforme item 4 - Prazos.
7 - DEVOLUÇÃO DOS TRABALHOS INSCRITOS
Os participantes concordam e aceitam que os materiais enviados para seleção não serão devolvidos. Os mesmos passarão a fazer parte do acervo do Festival ANIMAGE, unicamente para fins internos, para documentar as atividades do festival e para pesquisa interna.
8 - EXIBIÇÕES
Todos os arquivos serão testados previamente pelo festival, após o processo de transferência e/ou download. Em caso de problemas técnicos do material enviado, o participante deverá enviar uma nova versão, seguindo as especificações da equipe técnica do festival.
9 - CONVITES
A organização do ANIMAGE poderá convidar realizadores para participar do festival. A viabilidade e quantidade de convites será definida pela direção do festival.
10 - CONDIÇÕES GERAIS
10.1 - Serão aceitos curtas-metragens de animação realizados com qualquer técnica de animação, independentemente de terem sido produzidos para cinema, televisão ou plataformas online.
10.2 - As inscrições estão abertas a filmes que utilizem todas as técnicas de animação, incluindo combinações com live action e documentário. A animação deve representar, no mínimo, 75% do tempo total de duração da obra. O ANIMAGE reserva-se o direito de determinar se uma obra se qualifica como animação.
10.3 - Os realizadores dos filmes inscritos no ANIMAGE cedem à Rec-Beat Discos e Produções Artísticas Ltda e à Leão Produções Artísticas Ltda o direito de, gratuitamente, exibir e divulgar, em qualquer mídia, imagens do filme, preferencialmente trailers ou teasers (fotos e trechos de no máximo 30 segundos para curtas e 2 minuto para longas), por si ou por terceiros, a qualquer tempo, sem limitação de número de vezes, sem que seja devido aos participantes qualquer remuneração ou compensação.
10.4 - É de responsabilidade do concorrente a utilização de imagens e músicas de terceiros em seus filmes, assim como qualquer ônus que decorra da quebra de direitos de imagem e autorais. Cada candidato declara ser o autor ou detentor dos direitos do(s) filme(s) apresentado(s) e detém todos os direitos literários, dramáticos e musicais e os concede ao festival para uso gratuito com o objetivo de competir no festival. Os produtores e diretores de filmes premiados estão autorizados a mencionar o prêmio, o ano e o nome do festival.
10.5 - A organização do ANIMAGE não se responsabiliza por extravios e outras despesas decorrentes do envio de materiais para inscrição.
10.6 - A organização não se responsabiliza por obras que, por qualquer motivo de suporte defeituoso, não sejam possíveis de serem vistas ou que não sejam acompanhadas pela ficha de inscrição preenchida de forma correta e completa. É importante que o ARQUIVO seja testado e a documentação conferida antes do envio.
10.7 - A inscrição da obra pelo produtor comporta a aceitação integral do presente regulamento. A obra inscrita e selecionada para a competição não poderá ser retirada e/ou ter sua exibição proibida na programação do ANIMAGE.
10.8 - A organização do ANIMAGE é a única autorizada a efetuar a escolha da programação dos filmes, de acordo com os profissionais responsáveis designados para este fim.
10.9 - Os casos omissos por este Regulamento serão analisados pela direção do ANIMAGE – 16º Festival Internacional de Animação de Pernambuco, sendo sua decisão soberana. Assim, será de sua responsabilidade civil as decisões tomadas, por conta dessas resoluções.
10.10 - Em caso de situações de força maior que impeçam a realização do festival na data prevista, a organização se reserva o direito de alterar datas ou formato do evento, informando os participantes.

10.12 - No caso de o Festival ser adiado ou cancelado, em caso de força maior, não dará direito a qualquer forma de compensação ou indenização.
A participação no Festival ANIMAGE e no seu processo de inscrição de filmes implica a aceitação, sem reservas, dos termos do presente regulamento. O formulário de inscrição é válido como contrato de exibição, em caso de seleção.
IMPORTANTE: INFORMAÇÃO PARA FILMES BRASILEIROS
De acordo com as normas estabelecidas pela ANCINE - Agência Nacional do Cinema, todas as obras brasileiras devem possuir um CPB - Certificado de Produto Brasileiro para exibição em festivais. A obtenção destes certificados é de atribuição do produtor responsável pela obra. Para mais informações acesse o site ancine.gov.br. O prazo para informar o CPB das obras inscritas para o ANIMAGE – 16º Festival Internacional de Animação de Pernambuco é o dia 31 de agosto de 2026.
