Andrew Shanks is a South Australian born award-winning filmmaker, director, writer and editor with an extensive CV that includes short films, music videos, television, TVCs, corporate work and web content/series.
He is a founding member and co-director of the successful action comedy YouTube channel ‘Fury Fingers’, which has amassed over 3 millions view online. In 2015, Andrew travelled to Washington D.C. at the invitation of MAGFest to present various works by Fury Fingers at the ‘Games On Film’ Film Festival.
Andrew directed the short film ‘Doomsdays’ for Screen Australia’s Raw Nerve initiative, which went on to win Best Comedy at the 2015 South Australian Screen Awards awards and was screened on ABC2.
Andrew is also a passionate educator having spent 6 years working as a lecturer, tutor and tech support in the Film and TV Department of the University of South Australia from 2010 - 2016.
In 2016, Andrew completed post-graduate studies in Directing at the Australian Film Television & Radio School (AFTRS) in Sydney. Also that year he produced, directed and edited the short film ‘Split Me’ which had its world premiere at Flickerfest 2017 and has gone onto screen at many film festivals around the world, including Palm Springs Shortfest 2017.
Andrew currently divides his time between Adelaide and Sydney, working as an editor for Endemol Shine Australia on television programs such as Masterchef Australia, while continuing to develop his own creative projects.
