Amey Khanwalkar is an Indian filmmaker, director and a screenwriter. He has written and directed multiple plays and stories.
He was an associate director to Sanjay Leela Bhansali in the film "Gangubai Kathiawadi" which was recently premiered in BAFTA awards and also won National and Filmfare awards in 2023.
Before Assiting Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Ameya Khanwalkar has acted, directed and written in multipe theatres and street plays.
He wrote his first script at an age of 19 during his Engineering, Titled "Sharab aur Aadi.." which was a street play and the only comic play with a message to our society.
Later on he wrote another play, inspired by "Sholay (1975 movie)" and renaming it as "Aaj ke Sholay". Again from the genre of Comedy, this Film earned our Female Lead as the best Actress in the National Region, representing West.
Moving onto the same genre, his next play written and directed was "21st sadi ki Mahabharat", this play won the Best Director, and Best Costume.
Notably, he also did a well known script in Dubai "Andhon ka Haati" assisting Rashmi Kotriwala and also playing one of the antagonist in the play.
During the course of his journey, also being an Actor, he has acted in Multiple TVC's, Digital Ad's, Episodics and Movies. Ameya Khanwalkar brings in the experience of being a Writer, Actor and Director in his Debut Directional Short Film on a Digital Screen with "The Girl At The Airport"
