Alex Ostrovsky is an accomplished executive and product strategist driving growth, innovation, and cross-functional alignment in consumer goods and smart home technology.
Alex Ostrovsky is an experienced business executive, product strategist, and sales leader with a long record of driving growth, innovation, and cross-functional alignment in consumer goods and electrical manufacturing. Today, he serves as Executive Director of Business and Product Development for Smart Fans at Modern Forms, where he leads the strategy and execution of one of the most technically demanding and design-focused categories in the smart home market.
Alex entered the consumer goods market with the intent. Early in his career, he recognized that the core skills required in law, including persuasion, negotiation, preparation, and accountability, apply directly to sales leadership and product management. Rather than treating sales as a transactional function, he viewed it as a system that connects customer needs, operational realities, and long-term brand value.
Ostrovsky earned a Doctor of Jurisprudence from the IU Robert H. McKinney School of Law at Indiana University. He served as President of the Criminal Law Association and competed on his law school’s trial team at a national level competition in Chicago. These experiences shaped how he operates under pressure and how he evaluates risk, evidence, and outcomes. He is licensed as an attorney in the state of Indiana and later became a managing real estate broker, expanding his understanding of negotiations and regulatory environments.
Instead of remaining in traditional legal practice, he chose to work closer to core business decisions. That decision has influenced how he structures agreements, evaluates partnerships, and protects long-term value while maintaining speed and accountability.
Alex Ostrovsky built his business career at Fanimation Ceiling Fans, where he served as a National Account Manager and later as National Sales Manager. In these roles, he managed major national accounts, including Ferguson Enterprises, and led the company’s e-commerce strategy across Amazon, Wayfair, Build.com, and specialty lighting retailers. He oversaw full product lifecycles, including pricing strategy, inventory planning, competitive analysis, and lifecycle decisions.
While there, he created the company’s first national buying program, introducing a more transparent and measurable framework for account growth. His approach consistently combined market insight with operational discipline to ensure that strategy could be executed effectively.
Alexander Ostrovsky of Indiana has been with Modern Forms for a little over 8 years. He joined as National Sales Manager – Smart Fans, advanced to Director of Sales & Product Management, and in March 2025 was promoted to Executive Director of Business and Product Development. In this role, he works with executive leadership to define ceiling fan strategy within the WAC Group portfolio. He leads sales planning across channels, manages key customer relationships, and oversees concept-to-launch product development for connected-fan products. His responsibilities include technology evaluation, supplier coordination, tooling budgets, and pricing and inventory trade-offs to ensure that the design supports commercial success.
A defining aspect of his leadership is staying close to both product and customer. Product development integrates direct market feedback from demonstrated products and sales data that guides feature prioritization. Many of these features are patented in his name and are designed to address real needs rather than theoretical concepts.
For Alex, product development is not separate from sales. It is an extension of listening. Years of working with distributors, designers, and retailers reinforced that strong products solve practical problems while accounting for cost, installation realities, and long-term serviceability. He has helped refine internal processes at Modern Forms by improving timelines, clarifying team ownership, and ensuring that design intent is maintained from concept through production.
He has also contributed to the broader industry. He has served on the Government Affairs Committee of the American Lighting Association for more than 10 years, supporting regulatory efforts that affect manufacturers and distributors. He was also one of the catalysts behind National Ceiling Fan Day, created to highlight the energy- and cost-saving benefits of ceiling fans and to promote industry-wide collaboration among manufacturers and organizations.
With Indiana roots, where he was educated, licensed, and began his career, he values preparation, direct communication, and follow-through. From providing legal counsel through O|F Legal Solutions, LLC to leading smart fan innovation at Modern Forms, his approach has remained steady. His career reflects a belief that strong products, durable relationships, and disciplined execution are built over time. Today, Alex Ostrovsky continues to shape how smart ceiling fans are conceived, developed, and sustained in an increasingly competitive market.
