Director and Screenwriter with experience in 21 short films (10 narrative and 11 documentaries), 4 web series, 7 music videos and more than 100 commercial videos, achieving 23 awards and 45 festivals around the world, as well as exhibitions in cinema theaters, television networks and VOD. As a writer-director he has mainly focused on the science fiction genre, seeking to develop stories that inquire scientific and philosophical subjects. As a documentary director, he has focused on exploring cultural and artistic practices. And as director of commercial projects, he has focused on digital content in short format.
In 2012 he graduated with honors in Audiovisual Communication from the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana (Colombia), where he wrote and directed his first 7 narrative short films, exploring different genres and styles. During that time he also directed 5 micro episodes for the TV show Historias en un Minuto, broadcast by the RCN international network (Colombia). In 2012 he wrote and directed the fantasy and romance short film Our World, winner of 6 awards in 16 festivals around the world, which premiered at the FELAFACS 2012 meeting (Latin America), obtaining the Telefónica Award for Creativity in Digital Contents. The following year, premiered on YouTube Déjà Vu, a 12-episode sci-fi web series that he created and directed, which has positioned to date as the most award winning Colombian web series, achieving 14 awards at 18 festivals in countries such as USA, Canada, Italy, Spain, Mexico and Argentina, including 7 awards for Best Web Series and 5 related to Sci-Fi. His successful career led him between 2013 and 2018 to direct and make more than 100 audiovisual pieces for different artists, companies, institutions and brands such as Mastercard, Hush Puppies, Merrell, MinCultura, IDARTES, Motorola, Canal Trece, BAM, among others. Then in 2018 he premiered at the Vertical Film Festival (Australia) his next short film as a writer and director titled Standpoint, with which he seeked to explore the growing vertical format (9:16), achieving selections in 5 international festivals, including 3 focused on vertical cinema. In 2019 he premiered at the Bogotá Short Film Festival Bogoshorts (Colombia) Loop, his new sci-fi short film as writer-director, where he won the Best Editing award and the following year he won the Best Science Fiction award at the Trash Film Festival (Croatia) and the Official Selection at the Santiago Horror Film Festival (Chile). Based on his extensive experience in short content, in 2019 he decided to found his company Short Now, dedicated to the development, production and sales of short-format content such as short films and web series, with which he has directed and produced 11 original short films and has closed international deals for cinema theaters, pay TV and VOD.
He currently has 5 projects in development: Loop, a feature film about the paradoxes of time traveling, a screenplay selected at the Residencia Iberoamericana de Guion 2019 and supported by the FDC Estímulos Automáticos 2019 fund granted by Proimágenes Colombia and the CNACC; AI, feature film about the consequences of artificial intelligence and human interactions; Pandemic, a short film that explores social inequality in the midst of a pandemic; Sin Salida, a short film about a mother and her teenage son who must work as a team to escape from a group of zombies; and El Amor en Tiempos de Pandemia, a short film in times of isolation, where He and She begin a love story through their windows. Additionally, in 2020 he started a group of screenwriters, with whom he is developing 1 short film and 1 TV series.
