Zi Xian Yeoh, a passionate filmmaker hailing from Penang Island, Malaysia, ignited his ardor for video production at an early age. His filmmaking journey commenced by directing music videos for his secondary school's graduation songs, sparking his creative fervor. While pursuing studies, he delved into freelancing, crafting corporate videos, and honing his skills.
In 2021, he took a pivotal leap, creating his debut short horror film that earned recognition as the first runner-up in a competition organized by the Penang Youth Development Corporation (PYDC). Undeterred, he self-financed his second project in the same year – "Outside," a poignant mental health short film co-created with local friends.
Zi Xian's dedication bore fruit in 2022, with "Outside" earning accolades like the Best Cinematography award at Australia's Amateur Arthouse Film Festival and the Best Short Film award at the Arizona Faith & Family Film Festival in the United States. It also secured a Top 3 spot in the Best Short Film category at Malaysia's My Mind on Film by GSC.
In 2023, he unveiled "Pelangi Abadi Cinta (Borderless Love)," his first-ever compelling short film that challenges societal norms. It recently premiered privately at Le Film Gala, clinching the esteemed "Best Short Film Award 2023."
Zi Xian Yeoh's journey epitomizes his evolution as a filmmaker, a testament to his commitment and artistic prowess.
