Yves Stilmant is a Belgian-born cinematic composer whose work is inspired by the ancient Belgae of Gaul — a continental Celtic heritage that predates and differs from the more widely recognized traditions of Ireland and Scotland. Through orchestral storytelling, historical themes, and emotionally driven composition, his music explores identity, memory, mythology, and the spirit of ancestral Europe.
Now based in California, Stilmant has developed a prolific catalog of cinematic and orchestral works spanning decades. His compositions combine intimate emotional passages with large-scale symphonic arrangements, drawing inspiration from the traditions of classic film scoring while maintaining a deeply personal and historically grounded voice.
His body of work includes projects such as *Guardians of Arduenna*, *Daughters of Arduenna*, *Gallia Belgica*, *Spiritus Belgarum*, *Before the Crown*, *Hearth of the Belgae*, *I Am Belgae*, and *The Belgae: Echoes of Belgica* — all centered around reviving the forgotten cultural memory of the ancient continental Celtic world through cinematic music.
Stilmant has received international recognition through numerous music and film awards, including distinctions from the Mozart International Music Competition, Bach International Music Competition, Beethoven Award International Music Competition, Fauré Music World Competition, Classical Stars International Music Competition, the Fenix Awards, and the Ravel Music Awards.
In 2026, his composition *The Chief’s Legacy* received the Best Soundtrack Award at the World Film Festival in Cannes. His orchestral work *Guardians of Arduenna* received an official nomination at the International Sound & Film Music Festival (ISFMF) in Varaždin, Croatia. In Asia, his composition *Flight Beyond the Gate* won at the Bangkok Movie Awards in Thailand, further expanding his international presence as a cinematic composer.
His award-winning composition *Titan’s Awakening* stands as one of the defining examples of his symphonic voice — blending emotional intensity, thematic clarity, and cinematic scale — while works such as *Whispers in the Canopy* and *Before the Iron Came* showcase the atmospheric and lyrical side of his writing.
Founder of Lumière SoundWorks / Audio Alchemy Productions and Groove Tattoo Publishing, Yves Stilmant oversees a catalog of more than 800 registered original works. He is a member of ASCAP, AES, AIMP, SCL, and ASMAC.
Through his music, Stilmant continues to develop a cinematic body of work dedicated to orchestral storytelling, historical legacy, and the preservation of cultural memory through sound.
