Belated thank you to Esperanza, Tyler, Jacob and Jackeline for nominating my short film, Morena, for their Jury Award! I couldn’t be more thrilled for this first nomination. They were so welcoming and supportive of all of the filmmakers and local New Haven artists and businesses. I also appreciate how transparent they were about the community-building opportunities and the festival’s growth. Though I couldn’t attend, they helped me promote the film on their social media. It was an honor to be a part of their inaugural year and to be recognized by this new BIPOC initiative at Yale Summer Cabaret. I’m excited to submit again in the future! Thank you!
