WOMEN’S RIGHTS NIGHTS 2023 (14 edition)
1. ORGANIZATION
Women’s Rights Nights is an event which so far had 13editions held in March in Skopje. The festival “Women’s Rights Nights” started as a result of a collaboration between City of Skopje, UN Women office in Skopje, The Institute of Gender Studies at the Faculty of Philosophy at “St. Cyril and Methodius University” and the University of Audio-visual Arts from Skopje.
2. CONDITIONS FOR SUBMISSION
• Eligible films:
WE ACCEPT ONLY DOCUMENTARY FILMS DEALING WITH
WOMEN’S RIGHTS SUBJECTS AND GENDER ISSUES
• Eligible countries: There’s no restriction regarding the origin of the films
• Shooting formats: All shooting formats are accepted
• Running time: We prefer films between 40 and 90 minutes
• The deadline for submission is:
- Early deadline: 31October 2022
- Regular deadline: 31 December 2022
- Late deadline: 31 January 2023
• Submission fee:
- For early deadline: 5$ (3$ for Golden members)
- For regular deadline: 10$ (7$ for Golden members)
- For late deadline: 15$ (10$ for Golden members)
• Preferred screening format is HD 1920x1080 (H264, avi, mp4, mpeg…)
3. SUBMISSION PROCESS
We prefer online submission through the web platform:

You can, however, still apply directly to the Festival on the mail address:

In this case, it is mandatory that applicants send: synopsis, trailer, author's and producer's biography/filmography and a link to online screener of their film.

4. SELECTION PROCESS
The Selection committee is composed of the Festival programmers which are in charge of selecting the films. Every film submitted is watched and considered. The Festival line-up will be announced on the Festival website www.womensrightsnights.net. All the selected film producers or directors will be notified by mail until 1 March 2023.
5. SCREENING PROCESS
If the submitted preview screener can’t be used as screening copy, the official screening copy (downloadable link from HD file) must be sent to the Festival office. All films have to be subtitled in English.
6. FESTIVAL AND FILMS PROMOTION
The right holders grant the Festival, without compensation, the right to reproduce excerpts of the films (excerpts limited to 10% of the duration of the film and in any case shall not exceed 3 minutes), stills, synopsis and/or any other texts related to their films for promotional purposes of the Festival, on any support and any media, press and the Internet included. The producers also hereby guarantee that they have the legal authority to grant such rights and have cleared all rights related to the films (including, but not limited, to the music).
7. INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY
The signatory of the present document certifies to have the full ownership of the rights granted above on the submitted film according to our regulations and acknowledges that the Festival is not liable for any claims or expenses asked from any third party regarding rights matter.
8. ARCHIVE AND USE OF SUBMITTED FILMS
In order to create a film resource center, which is to be located in our office and restricted for use to Women’s Rights Nights members, submitted films will be kept and may be transferred for a better preservation on a new device (digitization or copy).
Women’s Rights Nights may use the films for its educational and non commercial activities.
9. REGISTRATION CONDITIONS
Registering a film to the competition and participating in the Festival implies the full acceptance of the regulations mentioned here above.
