Will Harwell is a Writer/Director who recently graduated from SCAD. He has a knack for telling stories through spectacle with character. Originally from Virginia Beach, Will always loved the spectacle of movies like Star Wars but valued the deep themes and world-building around them. His goal in any film is to put the audience in a different world, capture them through moments, and distract them from life's woes.
For general work, Will works with Timeline Productions and Gulfstream Aerospace and excels in collaborative videography and editing expertise to produce engaging visual content. Contributions include capturing B-roll footage for Gulfstream's marketing deliverables and supporting set operations to ensure seamless production workflows with various other clients. Developed key skills in camera operation, on-set assistance, and post-production editing to deliver industry-standard results.
Moving forward, Will hopes that his Senior Thesis film, Downtown Disarray, will make it onto the festival circuit and gain some traction. As a filmmaker, he strives to tell bold, character-driven stories that delve into complex relationships and universal themes, blending emotional depth with striking visuals. Downtown Disarray explores the timeless conflict between loyalty, betrayal, and the pursuit of freedom, framed by the complexities of family bonds. Set in a modern city rooted in Western grit, the story juxtaposes the mythos of outlaws with a world that has outgrown them. At its heart, it's about two brothers, Jeremiah and Otis—one clinging to the romantic ideal of freedom, the other resigned to survival—facing a moral and existential struggle that fractures their bond. Through visceral conflict and a stark urban setting, the film questions whether rebellion and individuality still have a place in today's world.
