The Wichita International Film Festival is designed to offer filmmakers a unique, interactive experience. Unlike traditional festivals, we focus on creating a space where creativity and conversation thrive. It’s not just about showcasing films; it’s about connecting with like-minded artists and engaging in meaningful dialogue. Whether you're a seasoned filmmaker or a first-time director, you’ll find a community that is eager to share, discuss, and celebrate the art of filmmaking together.

At the heart of the festival is the opportunity for filmmakers to interact directly with audiences and peers. After screenings, we prioritize open discussions and feedback sessions, allowing you to hear what others think of your work and share the process behind it. This personal exchange fosters growth and inspiration, and helps you gain valuable insights from a diverse, engaged community that goes beyond the traditional "audience and filmmaker" divide.

What truly sets the Wichita International Film Festival apart is its laid-back, inclusive environment. We encourage networking and collaboration in a relaxed setting, where filmmakers can easily connect with industry professionals and fellow creatives. With workshops, masterclasses, and informal meetups, the festival is a place to not only share your film but also expand your skills, build new relationships, and discover fresh ideas to fuel your next project.

The Wichita International Film Festival is dedicated to showcasing the diversity and creativity of global cinema, providing an inclusive platform for filmmakers of all backgrounds. We welcome films of all genres, including narrative, documentary, experimental, animation, and student films. Filmmakers from around the world are encouraged to submit their work for consideration. Our goal is to highlight exceptional storytelling, artistic innovation, and the unique voices of filmmakers from every corner of the globe.

To be eligible for submission, films must meet the festival's basic criteria. There are no restrictions on the completion date of films, allowing both recent and older works to be submitted. However, we do ask that non-English language films be accompanied by English subtitles for the convenience of our international audience. We accept films of any length, including short films (under 45 minutes) and feature films (45 minutes or longer). Films that have previously screened at other festivals or have been publicly released are eligible to apply, as long as they align with the festival's mission to promote fresh and innovative storytelling.

Films must be submitted digitally, and we require high-quality files in formats such as MP4 or MOV. All submissions should include a film synopsis, a director's biography, a film still or poster, and any relevant promotional materials to support the film’s presentation. Filmmakers are responsible for ensuring that all elements of the film, including music, scripts, and performances, do not infringe on any copyright laws. We ask that filmmakers confirm that they hold the necessary rights for all content in their films before submitting.

All films will be reviewed by the festival's selection committee, and only selected films will be notified. The festival is committed to providing a platform for creative voices and offering filmmakers the opportunity to share their work with a diverse and engaged audience. Selected films will be informed of the screening details well in advance of the festival and will be expected to provide a Digital Cinema Package (DCP) or another suitable format for exhibition. Once selected, films may also be used for festival promotional activities, including online marketing, press materials, and social media, with permission from the filmmakers.

By submitting to the Wichita International Film Festival, filmmakers grant the festival the right to use their film's title, promotional materials, and excerpts for promotional purposes. The festival does not provide financial support for travel or accommodation expenses for filmmakers whose films are selected. Filmmakers are encouraged to attend the festival and participate in discussions, workshops, and networking opportunities that will be available during the event. We strive to create a welcoming environment where filmmakers can connect with peers, share ideas, and engage with an enthusiastic audience.

We are excited to review your work and look forward to the opportunity to celebrate the art of filmmaking together at the Wichita International Film Festival.
