Voci dei Boschi Film Festival è un festival internazionale sull’agricoltura e sull’ecologia.
Con “Voci dei Boschi” si intende dare ascolto e visibilità a realtà agricole e contadine, a mondi selvatici, alle diverse forme di ecologia,di relazione e comunità, ai saperi tradizionali, alle lotte per i diritti del territorio e di chi lo abita, alle pratiche lente e sostenibili, a una visione non estrattiva delle risorse, alla voce delle nostre radici che si intrecciano con le pratiche e le lotte di altre comunità lontane.
Costa Vescovato sorge tra le colline, è il comune italiano che divide i due torrenti Ossona e Cornigliasca. É una terra antica e quando la si attraversa si ha la percezione di imbattersi in un altro tempo, raccontato dal territorio che le persone del posto coltivano e vivono quotidianamente. Della stessa influenza vivono anche le valli adiacenti, forti della capacità di saper interagire con un territorio vasto e differente

Tema della VI edizione.
Affrontare la bestia o accogliere l’amico: entrambe le visioni rinviano a una concezione distorta delle nostre relazioni con il vivente. Da una parte voler sconfiggere la natura per civilizzarla, dall’altra sognare una natura priva di ostilità, ma gli animali selvatici non sono nostri amici e nemmeno bestie da sconfiggere. Potremmo cercare un’altra strada, altri modelli per pensare le nostre relazioni con le loro alterità?

La VI edizione di Voci dei Boschi Film Festival si ispira al libro Sulla pista animale di Baptiste Morizot. Costa Vescovato è un territorio, una casa che rispetta l’espandersi delle altre, che rispetta i tempi della terra e che si prende cura del territorio.
Questo è quello che vorremmo: mettere in prospettiva lo sguardo avvicinandoci ad un territorio popolato di alterità, alterità intese anche come la terra. Allora chi è l’altro? Forse un’esplorazione, diventare qualcun altro, esplorare l’ignoto. Io è un altro scriveva Rimbaud.

Vorremmo che i film ci guidassero attraverso una trasformazione, e che potessero aiutare ad allontanarci dalla ferocia e pericolosità attribuita all’altro. Sforzandoci per vedere il mondo dalla prospettiva di un corpo diverso dal nostro.
La capacità di entrare in un altro modo di pensare lasciando indietro le sovrastrutture del dominio, lasciandoci spazio per diventare altro ed è proprio qui che i due sguardi coincidono (ecco perché gli animali ci guardano spontaneamente negli occhi). Linguaggio corporeo, odori comunicazioni tra istinti e schemi di comportamento diversi, una transculturalità che possiamo rintracciare nella relazione uomo-animale, ma anche nelle relazioni internazionali oggi così precarie.

“Si tratta dello strano coraggio di affrontare un’alterità senza giungere alla conclusione che , siccome è pericolosa, costituisce un nemico assoluto. è una forma di coraggio empatico che esplora ampiamente il punto di vista dell’altro, che vede con tutti gli occhi presenti, che vede dal punto di vista della relazione stessa. É un coraggio senza virilità, perché è un coraggio senza genere. Un coraggio prospettivista che consiste nell’affrontare l’altro senza trasformarlo in una bestia.”

Voci dei Boschi Film Festival (Voices of the Woods Film Festival) is an international festival that aims to promote agriculture, ecology and sustainability.
The festival intends to give voice and visibility to agricultural and peasant realities, wilderness, different forms of ecology, relationship and community, tradition, struggles for land ownership and its inhabitants, slow and sustainable practices, a non-extractive vision of resources, but also to the voices of our roots that are closely connected to both the practices and the struggles of other distant communities.

Costa Vescovato rises among beautiful hills, it’s an Italian district located between two torrents, Ossona and Cornigliasca. When passing by, one has the perception of entering the tale of another era - told by the land that the local people farm and live every day. The adjacent valleys also live under the same influence, strong in their ability to interact with a vast and different territory.

Theme of VI edition

Facing the beast or welcoming the friend: both visions point to a distorted understanding of our relationship with the living world. On one side, the urge to conquer nature in order to civilize it; on the other, the dream of a nature free from hostility. Yet wild animals are neither our friends nor beasts to be defeated. Could we search for another path—other models through which to think our relationships with their otherness?

The 6th edition of Voci dei Boschi Film Festival is inspired by Baptiste Morizot’s book On the Animal Trail. Costa Vescovato is a territory, a home that respects the expansion of others, that honors the rhythms of the earth and takes care of its land.

This is what we hope to do: to shift perspective by approaching a territory inhabited by forms of otherness—otherness that also includes the earth itself. So who is the other? Perhaps it is an exploration, a becoming someone else, a journey into the unknown. “I is another,” wrote Rimbaud.

We would like the films to guide us through a transformation, helping us move away from the ferocity and danger we often attribute to the other—making an effort to see the world from the perspective of a body different from our own.

It is the ability to enter another way of thinking, leaving behind the superstructures of domination and making space to become other. It is precisely here that the two gazes meet (this is why animals so often look us straight in the eyes). Body language, smells, forms of communication between instincts and behavioral patterns—this transculturality can be found in the human-animal relationship, but also in today’s increasingly fragile international relations.

“It is a strange kind of courage: to face otherness without concluding that, because it is dangerous, it must be an absolute enemy. It is a form of empathetic courage that deeply explores the point of view of the other, that sees with all the eyes present, that sees from the perspective of the relationship itself. It is a courage without virility, because it is a courage without gender. A perspectival courage that consists in confronting the other without turning it into a beast.”
