Videograma 4 – International Video Art Festival –

In its fourth edition, Videograma – International Video Art Festival – delves into the fertile territory of imagination with the curatorial theme Gardens of Light, a space for thinking about creation as if it were a crop: a practice that grows, intertwines, and transforms. This festival, which brings together voices and perspectives from different latitudes, is held in Colombia with the support of the Museum of Contemporary Art of Bogotá, the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana, and other partner institutions. Additionally, the Festival will hold screenings in different spaces nationwide on a non-profit basis during 2027.

Videograma is a festival that is screened in public spaces, so the selected works must be suitable for all audiences. This characteristic invites proposals that dialogue with open and diverse environments and that can generate sensitive encounters in squares, parks, or other places of common circulation.
On this occasion, we are called upon to think of the garden as a theme for creation, beyond the place where plants sprout, as a fabric of visible and invisible forces, a constellation of elements in constant relation: what is born and what dies, what is cared for and what is left to grow freely. In this sense, Gardens of Light does not refer only to the literal garden, but to any space where affections, ideas, memories, and struggles are cultivated. Light, an essential element of video art, becomes here seed and water: that which makes possible the life of images, but also the life of communities and the worlds we imagine.
Thinking about a garden allows us to explore ecological and scientific dimensions, but also social, political, and symbolic ones. Since ancient times, the garden has been seen as a place of origin, like the Eden from which we were expelled and to which we always long to return. We can also think of the Garden of Earthly Delights, where beauty coexists with mystery, the forbidden, and the fantastic, reminding us that nature is also a space of desire, imagination, and contradictions.

Each proposal for video art, experimental video, experimental cinema, and/or experimental animation in this edition of the festival is expected to be a garden in its own right: some will let wild vines grow, invading walls and borders; others will be like domestic flowers that bloom in privacy and require meticulous care. There will be gardens of healing herbs, but also those that harbor weeds. Together, they will form a plural landscape, an ecology of images that thrives on diversity, like a garden that holds within itself the memory of what has been lost and the promise of what we can still cultivate.
Participation in this call for entries implies authorization by those selected for the Festival to disseminate the works on the dates scheduled by the Festival, as well as in traveling exhibitions, both national and international, to be held during 2026 and 2027. These exhibitions will take place in open spaces and/or non-profit cultural entities.

By applying, participants declare that the material submitted is their own work and that they have the necessary permissions from all persons involved in its creation. The legal consequences of any copyright disputes shall be borne exclusively by the participants and not by the Festival or its organizers.
The works exhibited during the Festival are compiled in a printed publication that can be used as academic reference material for filmmakers, artists, and curators, consolidating an archive that serves for the study and analysis of this genre.

En su cuarta edición, Videograma – Festival Internacional de Videoarte – se adentra en el territorio fértil de la imaginación con el eje curatorial Jardines de luz, un espacio para pensar la creación como si fuera un cultivo: una práctica que crece, se entrelaza y se transforma. Este festival, que reúne voces y miradas de distintas latitudes se realiza en Colombia con el apoyo del Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Bogotá, La Pontificia Universidad Javeriana y otras instituciones aliadas. Adicionalmente el Festival realizará proyecciones en diferentes espacios a nivel nacional y sin ánimo de lucro durante el año 2027.

Videograma es un festival que se proyecta en el espacio público, por lo cual las obras seleccionadas deben ser aptas para todo tipo de público. Esta característica invita a pensar propuestas que dialoguen con entornos abiertos y diversos, y que puedan generar encuentros sensibles en plazas, parques u otros lugares de circulación común.

En esta oportunidad se hace el llamado a pensar el jardín como temática de creación, más allá del lugar en donde brotan plantas, como un tejido de fuerzas visibles e invisibles, una constelación de elementos en constante relación: lo que nace y lo que muere, lo que se cuida y lo que se deja crecer libremente. En este sentido, Jardines de luz no se refiere únicamente al jardín literal, sino a cualquier espacio donde se cultiven afectos, ideas, memorias y luchas. La luz, materia esencial del videoarte, se convierte aquí en semilla y en agua: aquello que hace posible la vida de las imágenes, pero también la vida de las comunidades y de los mundos que imaginamos.
Pensar en un jardín nos permite explorar dimensiones ecológicas y científicas, pero también sociales, políticas y simbólicas. Desde las creencias más antiguas, el jardín ha sido visto como un lugar originario, como aquel Edén del que fuimos expulsados y al que siempre anhelamos regresar. También puede pensarse en el Jardín de las delicias, donde lo bello convive con lo misterioso, lo prohibido y lo fantástico, recordándonos que la naturaleza es también un espacio de deseo, de imaginación y de contradicciones.
Se espera que cada propuesta de videoarte, video experimental, cine experimental y/o animación experimental en esta versión del festival sea un jardín propio: algunos dejarán crecer enredaderas salvajes que invaden muros y fronteras; otros serán como flores domésticas que florecen en la intimidad y que requieren un cuidado minucioso. Habrá jardines de hierbas curativas, pero también aquellos que alberguen malas hierbas. En su conjunto, conformarán un paisaje plural, una ecología de imágenes que se nutre de la diversidad, como un jardín que guarda en sí la memoria de lo perdido y la promesa de lo que aún podemos cultivar.

La participación en la presente convocatoria implica la autorización por parte de los seleccionados al Festival para la difusión de las obras en las fechas programadas por el Festival, así como en las muestras itinerantes, tanto nacionales como internacionales, que se realicen durante los años 2026 y 2027. Dichas muestras se llevarán a cabo en espacios abiertos y/o entidades culturales sin ánimo de lucro.
Al postular, los participantes declaran que el material presentado es de su autoría y que cuentan con los permisos necesarios de todas las personas involucradas en su realización. Las consecuencias legales derivadas de eventuales conflictos de derechos de autor recaen exclusivamente sobre los participantes y no sobre el Festival ni sus organizadores.
Las obras exhibidas durante el Festival se reúnen en una publicación impresa que permite ser usado como material de consulta a nivel académico para realizadores, artistas y curadores, consolidando un archivo que sirva para el estudio y el análisis de este género.
