Vidal D' Costa hails from Goa. She is also a freelance content writer, film critic and film journalist as well as a self-published author in sci-fi and romance genres in print and digital and a blogger.
While pursuing her postgraduate studies at The New School, New York, she wrote and produced a documentary on excessive retouching in print and digital media and its negative impact on body image called 'Airbrushed Beyond Recognition' which was screened at various global film festivals across US, UK, Italy, Bolivia, etc, and even received various awards on the film festival circuit. Her other short films include the low-budget mockumentary Vidal D'costa presents Mocking the Mundane' (originally conceived as a series of humorous sketches) and the award-winning short, 'I Could Try To Carry On' which is based on her blank verse poem 'Bruised Battered and Bullied'. Her most recent work, the short script 'Death Arrives Uninvited' is also an award-winning musical which was recently staged at Alliance Madras in Chennai as part of the 'Prelude: A 5 Play Anthology' showcase, in collaboration with the Artiste Chennai theatre company and director Suhas R Vaidya.
The short films are available to stream via digital platforms such as Versus media, Apple TV, Roku, My Cinema Hall, Youtube, Vimeo, Varivas and Films For Action and were also featured in publications such as Movie Buff, Radio Times, DT Next and Deed News.
She feels inspired by the works of Mira Nair, Taika Waititi, Conan O'Brien, Aanand L Rai and Shoojit Sircar (to name just a few).
