A Multi-disciplinary career has driven Victor Cabrera Janusz, a Seattle native, through a diversity of creative endeavors. For the last twenty-five years, he has been a fulltime Singer-Songwriter/Pianist, performing at many festivals and venues such as Canlis, Saltys on Alki, Columbia Tower Club, El Gaucho, the Royal Room, Tulas, among countless others. The most recent of his 5 Studio recordings is a retrospective, “A Song To Love: Music & Lyrics of Victor Janusz/ 2004–2020” which includes the single “Fruitcake Blues” a duet with Grammy-nominee Duffy Bishop. Janusz was Founding Artistic Director of Seattle’s TRIAD Ensemble Theatre (1987-94) directing more than thirty professional productions. His one-man show about a ‘life at the keys’ titled “HANDS SOLO: Pianoman” (directed by Lori Larsen) world premiered at the Duplex in NYC, sold-out its two-week engagement in ACT Theatre’s 2014 Season, and at Palm Springs’ Arthur Newman Theatre. He has taught/lectured at Centrum in Port Townsend, University of Washington and in 1991 was invited to address the First Int’l Conference On Psycho-Social Aspects of HIV/AIDS in Amsterdam, regarding “Perceptions of AIDS in American Entertainment”.
Since 2020, Cabrera Janusz has shifted his main focus to Writing-Directing, alongside his less rigorous music schedule. Short films include “The Bones of Richard III”” (2016, VJ Band) and a Holiday short “C3Q (See Three Queens)” (2021). The Feature “Still I Reach For You”–supported by Artist Trust Foundation & 4 Culture-–was filmed and completed in 2022, with a 2023 release. In October 2024, Janusz was granted an Independent Cultural Producer Award from King County/4-Culture Arts Commission for creating art works serving under-represented populations.
"SIRFY" was an Official Selection at more than 85 International Festivals, winning 28 Major Awards including 10 Best American Indie-Feature (Low-Budget), 6 Best Original Soundtrack /Best Composer, 1 Best Supporting Actor (Ryan Higgins); and 1 Best Acting Duo (Ryan Higgins/Lori Larsen). The Film has been viewed in 26 countries including USA (68), Canada (6), Italy (15) France (8), Germany (4), India, China, Japan, Australia, and many more.
Says Janusz: “Whether I’m a piano soloist, singing, directing a play or making a film… it all comes down to storytelling.”
