Véronique Eshaya is an emerging filmmaker who is proud of her heritage as a half French-Canadian and half Egyptian woman, because both sides of her family have inspired her to tell many stories based on the rich experiences of the past.
She studied politics in Edinburgh, Scotland, where she then stayed for an extra two years. She volunteered for many film festivals such as the Edinburgh International Film Festival where she distributed leaflets. She was also a Production Assistant for IberoDocs: Ibero-American Documentary Film Festival.
She eventually had the opportunity to work as an Archival Researcher for the film The World in One City, which premiered at the Edinburgh International Festival in 2016. The next year she worked as an Assistant Editor and Animator for the film I Don’t Want to Call it Home, which premiered at the Edinburgh International Film Festival in 2017.
Her time in Scotland has helped her understand and accumulate knowledge on working with creative documentaries – a type of documentary she is passionate about.
