I am a performance artist, dance anthropologist, and educator. I completed an International Master degree in Dance Knowledge, Practice and Heritage. I studied and worked in Russia, the US, Belgium, China, Greece, Moldova, Norway, Hungary, France, the UK, and South Africa.
Intrigued by the concept of ‘cultural body’, I explore in my work the traces of influence that societies and our individual experiences leave in our bodies. I come from a staged traditional dance and contemporary dance background, but my interest extends to other movement practices such as yoga, climbing, martial arts, folk dances and rituals. All these experiences shape me and determine who I am today.
Being involved in dance education, I am passionate about developing a multicultural dance curriculum with an emphasis on young learners’ well-being. I believe that dance is a powerful medium of transmission for more than just movement patterns. Through dance, one can develop cross-cultural awareness, a deeper relationship with the body, and a healthy life attitude.
