Vahid Hojjatinikoo, Ph.D.
Screenwriter & Multidisciplinary Storyteller
I fuse a decade of academic expertise in Media Psychology and History with the soul of a visual artist and poet. My screenplays are psychological excavations of characters caught between societal pressures and their moral abysses, crafted to resonate with both intellectual depth and visceral impact. My feature film script, "A Coach..."—a social drama thriller exploring a corrupt judge who groomes disillusioned youth into crime—exemplifies this synthesis, using potent visual metaphors (like clay busts symbolizing fractured identities) to explore themes of justice, manipulation, and generational trauma.
My creative process is built on a foundation of rigorous research and cross-disciplinary artistry:
Research-Infused Narratives: My writing is grounded in the continuous study of film theory (consuming one academic film book weekly) and the practical analysis of global cinema (screening 2-3 films weekly), ensuring authenticity and innovation.
Visual Storytelling: My background as a painter, with exhibitions in venues like the Luxembourg Museum of Modern Art, informs my ability to construct powerful, layered visual metaphors that advance the narrative without dialogue.
Psychological Authenticity: With 12 years of teaching psychology, I craft characters with profound psychological credibility, making their journeys unsettlingly relatable and their motivations compelling.
Artist Statement:
"I see cinema as a cracked mirror held up to society—it must not only reflect reality but also expose its hidden fractures. My mission is to spotlight those human moments lost in the margins, where choice and fate violently collide."
Current Projects:
Developing new feature projects that interrogate nonlinear narrative structures and the enduring impact of collective trauma on personal identity.
