The Utah Filmmakers™ Association—a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, licensed by the Utah Department of Commerce Division of Consumer Protection—has served the filmmaking community and the public with educational programs, lectures, screenings, and sponsorships.
Its educational endeavors have included an after-school program at Mt. Pleasant Elementary School, a 4-H filmmaking club in Sanpete County, production workshops taught at North Sanpete High School and Wasatch Academy in Mt. Pleasant, and lectures at Snow College in Ephraim and Weber State University in Ogden.
The organization has hosted public screenings of films by Utah-based filmmakers as well as curated short film screenings at various local venues, and during the Section One Expo at the Salt Lake City Public Library.
Utah Filmmakers™ is dedicated to promoting economic development through the local film industry, championing the continued growth of Utah’s filmmaking infrastructure, and actively supports the efforts of the Motion Picture Association of Utah and the state’s Motion Picture Incentive Program.
The UFA™ also serves by engaging aspiring filmmakers to learn and embrace industry standards, to understand the requisite business aspects of the craft, and to approach their desired vocation with our core values of professionalism, integrity, and respect. To that end, Utah Filmmakers™ facilitates both Mentorship and Internship programs, and advocates established agencies, projects, and organizations that provide the knowledge, tools, and resources needed to enable local filmmaking enthusiasts to become professionals in Utah’s film industry. The UFA™ facilitates these efforts through online forums, collaboration with other nonprofit and business entities, and practical application of industry standards through the creation of original content with its production division, Section One Entertainment. The organization endeavors to bridge the local film community with Utah’s film industry.
When funding permits, The UFA™ makes contributions to local film-related fundraising efforts by other organizations as well as crowdfunding campaigns for Utah-based independent film productions that demonstrate an emphasis on fair compensation for the time and talent of local cast and crew.
Utah Filmmakers™ is a member of the Utah Nonprofits Association and abides by that organization’s Standards of Ethics.
In order to meet the licensing requirements of the Utah Department of Commerce, a comprehensive STATEMENT OF FUNCTIONAL EXPENSES—detailing all contributions/grant revenue and other proceeds, and outlays—is submitted annually to the Division of Consumer Protection.
