Umberto Mentana (1987) is a screenwriter, filmmaker, film and television essayist and teacher of Discipline Audiovisive in high school. Over the years he has published for numerous non-fiction and film criticism publishing houses on the national scene after completing his higher education in entertainment disciplines, specializing in History of Cinema and Film and Television Writing (University of Bari “A. Moro”, 2015 and UCLA School of Theater, Film and Television, Los Angeles CA, 2017). His books include: "Tom Ford. Percorsi di Moda e Cinema, dal Fashion Universe a Nocturnal Animals" (NPE, 2020), "Chi vuol essere Showrunner?" (Edizioni Bietti, 2021) -- with an exclusive interview with producer, showrunner, author and teacher Neil Landau (University of Georgia) --, "RL Stine. Piccoli Brividi, Fear Street e altre Scary Stories" (Weird Book, 2023), with a foreword by artist Tim Jacobus, author of the historic Goosebumps covers of the 1990s. He collaborates with the comics magazine «Fumo di China», with the literary magazine «Lettera Zero» and with the digital magazine «Streamofilia».
His latest non-fiction book for Edizioni Falsopiano (Alessandria) is "Aaron Sorkin. Il Potere della Parola", with a preface by prof. Neil Landau (University of Georgia – UCLA TFT Los Angeles).
He is screenwriter and script doctor for indie cinema in Italy.
