The UIC Barcelona Faculty of Communication Sciences and the specialised journalism agency Aceprensa will convene the second UIC Barcelona International Short Film Award for university students aged between 18 and 25 years old, and upper-secondary school students aged between 16 and 18 years old. Under the slogan “We are connected – a positive use of phones and social media”, this year's competition aims to promote the healthy use of digital technology and environments through films that creatively depict this reality. The shorts must be original, unpublished and submitted to one of two categories, depending on the age of
the author:
A: from 18 to 25 years old and B: from 16 to 18 years old.

The shorts can be in Spanish, Catalan or English. If the original language is Spanish or Catalan, they must be subtitled in English. If the original language is English, they must be subtitled in Spanish.

Three prizes will be awarded for category A (from 18 to 25 years old)
— First prize: €4,000 and a year’s subscription to Aceprensa
— Second prize: €1,500 and a year’s subscription to Aceprensa
— Third prize: €500 and a year’s subscription to Aceprensa

Three prizes will be awarded for category B (from 16 to 18 years old):
— First prize: €500 and a year’s subscription to Aceprensa
— Second prize: A year’s subscription to Aceprensa
— Third prize: A year’s subscription to Aceprensa

University students between 18 and 25 years of age from any university, national or international, and uppersecondary school students between 16 and 18 years of age, from any school, national or international, may
participate in this competition, under the following conditions:

a. The participant, or their legal representative (if they are under 18), guarantees that he or she meets the
requirements for participation.

b. The shorts must be original, unpublished and submitted to one of two categories, depending on the age of
the author: A: from 18 to 25 years old and B: from 16 to 18 years old.

c. Participants must register via the competition website uic.es/shortfilmaward and fill out a form with their
personal details: first and last name(s); address and telephone number, and a scanned copy of their ID.

d. The shorts can be in Spanish, Catalan or English. If the original language is Spanish or Catalan, they must be
subtitled in English. If the original language is English, they must be subtitled in Spanish.

e. They must last between 1:30 and 3 minutes, not including the credits.

f. The shorts must be sent to premioaceprensa@uic.es by 25 September 2021. They can be sent via digital document delivery platforms.

g. They can be sent in any digital format, preferably mp4 and 1920 px x 1080 px 8 (FULL HD), with a file size no larger than 500 Mb.

h. The films that do not respect the image and dignity of individuals, collectives or organisations, or that contain racist, violent, offensive, degrading or discriminatory content, as well as any inappropriate or offensive content, will not be accepted. They must be suitable for all audiences.

i. A selection committee, consisting of members of Aceprensa and the UIC Barcelona Faculty of Communication Sciences, will pre-select the nominees for the awards.

j. A jury consisting of audiovisual specialists and renowned professionals will choos
ict and winners will be announced at a gala awards ceremony.

RESPONSIBILITY
Participants that submit a video to the competition shall be solely responsible for its contents and in particular,
for ensuring that:
— It does not contain material that is subject to copyright.
— They have the written and express permission of the people featured in the video to use their image (and/or
that of their legal representatives, in case of individuals under 18 years of age).
— The participants’ personal data will be processed by UIC Barcelona, as set out in the General Data Protection
Regulation (Regulation EU 2016/619 of the European Parliament and of the Council).
— Participants may exercise their rights of access, rectification, limitation, erasure, portability and opposition to
personal data by emailing the UIC Barcelona Data Protection Officer at infocom@uic.es.
— Acceptance of the terms and conditions. The simple fact of entering the competition implies the full and
unreserved acceptance of these terms and conditions, which can be consulted on the competition website:
uic.es/shortfilmaward.
— At the awards ceremony held for the competition, the finalists/winners may be filmed or photographed.
This material may be published for corporate purposes. Therefore, the participants themselves or their legal
representatives/guardians consent and authorise the publication and/or use of said photographs, as well as
the name and surname(s) of the winner(s), including their name and surname(s), to promote the competition
on all media platforms and supports available to UIC Barcelona and its collaborators and sponsors, without
such use conferring any right to any remuneration or benefit whatsoever, except for the award of the prize
they have won. Likewise, trailers or videos may be created using images from selected shorts to promote the
festival on social media, YouTube and the corporate website.
