Application Requirements
1. The films participating in the Festival must directly or indirectly deal with the theme of disaster.
2. If the theme of your film is a direct disaster-themed, if the first conflict that starts the chain of events involves a disaster, if the situation subjected to the film has affected the crowd, if the ongoing effects of a disaster experienced in the past are the subject of the film, if a documentary is produced about a disaster that actually happened or its effects, you can apply to the category appropriate to the structure of your film.
3. Feature-length fiction, feature-length documentary, short-length fiction, short-length documentary and short-length animation films made after 01/01/2000 can participate.
4. Feature length films must be at least 40 minutes including credits. Short-length films must be at most 40 minutes including credits.
5. All films applying to the festival must have English subtitles.
6. Films applying to the Feature Film category with documentary content must state that the film is a 'documentary' in the description section.
8. Applicants can apply with more than one film, but each films must be submitted separately.
9.Applications are open to filmmakers of all ages and countries.
10. Having participated in national or international festivals before or having received awards from these festivals is not an obstacle to apply to our festival.
11. Films that have been shown on any national and international channel, BluRay, DVD or VCD prints have been made, digital platforms and any internet platform, but whose copyrights have not been commercially sold can apply to the competition.
12. The approval of the producers by filling out the application form completely means that they accept the terms of the competition. The application of productions that contain incomplete or incorrect information or documents in their applications will not be accepted. Participants are obliged to share the link to an vimeo / youtube / dailymotion etc. platform with password where the film can be watched during the form filling phase.
13. All films participating in the competition are evaluated by an international jury consisting of directors, screenwriters, producers, actors, writers, film critics, film historians and well-known people in the field of cinema.
14. The Festival Committee has the right to use selected parts of the selected films for promotional purposes.
15. After the announcement of the films selected for the competition and screening sections, it cannot be withdraw their films from the festival.
16. The crew of the films accepted to the festival is invited to the award night. At least 1 person from the production team (director, actor, screenwriter, cinematographer) of the finalist films is expected to attend the award night. The award is primarily presented to the director of the film, or in case the director cannot attend, to the person acting as a representative from the film crew.
17. The producers of the finalist films must have solved all kinds of copyright issues such as music, script, directing, etc. If the film has more than one legal owner, it must be indicated in the application form. The festival management may request permission, copyright and consent documents if deemed necessary.
18. Copyrights that may arise from third parties during the screening of the films are the responsibility of the producer.
19. Maximum of 2 directors information can be entered for each film in the application form. This rule also applies for films with multiple-directors.
20. The festival management does not disclose the list of applicant films and does not provide information about the applicant films. It only shares the list of films in the screening category with the public.
21. The film owners who have passed the pre-selection and qualified to participate in the festival are obliged to deliver the following documents to the address to be announced by the festival management within 7 days after the announcement of their names.
English subtitled copy of the film, HD format (1920*1080) digital file (via online transfer),
List of dialogue with English timecode for all films,
-3 high resolution JPG format screenshots from the film
-One high-resolution photograph of the director,
-Two separate summaries of the film in Turkish and English for Turkish-made films (maximum 100 words), English film summaries for non-Turkish-made films (maximum 100 words),
-Film credits (Turkish and English for Turkish-made films, English only for non-Turkish-made films)
-Short biography of the director (Turkish and English for Turkish-made films, English only for non-Turkish-made films)
-Director's opinion (Turkish and English for Turkish-made films, English only for non-Turkish-made films, maximum 100 words),
22. The festival management has the right to exclude films that do not have sufficient technical specifications for screening.
23. The films are shown to the jury and the audience in the halls selected by the festival management in accordance with the programme.
24. All films screened during the festival are archived within the scope of the International Disaster Film Festival. If deemed necessary, they can be shown on various platforms for the purpose of contribution and support to film production, without commercial purposes, with the permission of the directors.
25. Film representatives (producers, directors, actors, screenwriters, etc.) are honoured with receptions and discussions of their works on stage after all screenings during the festival.
26. Persons from the pre-selection jury, the main jury or the festival team and their first-degree relatives cannot apply for the competition section of the festival.
27. The festival management reserves the right to make changes to the regulations under necessary conditions. The festival management is authorised to decide on matters not specified in the regulations.
28. The decision of the jury is final, the participants have no right of appeal.
29. The finalist films will be announced on the official website and social media accounts of the festival.
30. The prize money of the awarded films will be transferred to their bank accounts. The festival pays the bank charges in Turkey, the festival is not responsible for intermediary bank commissions.
The festival committee has the right to make any changes and reserves this right.
Above is a description of the Rules and Guidelines governing film submissions to the 2024 International Disaster Film Festival. These Rules and Guidelines must be followed in order to participate in the Film Festival. Submission of a film implies unconditional acceptance of the Rules and Guidelines; therefore, please read them carefully before submitting your film.
