Yilin Xie is a Chinese filmmaker and producer. She is pursuing a master degree of Film and Television in the Victorian Collage of the Arts - the University of Melbourne. Stepping into the realm of filmmaking in 2022, she demonstrated a quick emergence onto the scene with two short documentaries: The Arts of Belonging (2022) and Searching for Carrot Man (2023). In these films, she explores the cultural diversity and the story of local characters, immersing audiences in Melbourne's uniqueness.
In 2023, Xie broadened her exploration by tackling LGBTQIA+ themes through the lens of Buddhism in The End Is The Beginning Is The End (2023). This film introduces an Eastern perspective on understanding homosexuality, offering a fresh approach to the topic. Continuing her journey in 2024, Xie focuses on the intricacies of human experience. She is working on June (2024) that portrays an elderly man trapped by his life, capturing her story from a unique perspective.
