Welcome to the Tony Curtis International Film Festival, an event dedicated to celebrating the rich legacy of Tony Curtis, an iconic figure whose Hungarian roots and illustrious Hollywood career have left an indelible mark on the world of cinema.
Set in the picturesque town of Mátészalka, Hungary, this festival is hosted at the "Szalkai Mozi - Zukor Adolf Filmszínház," located at 4700 Mátészalka, Kossuth utca 40, from September 19-21, 2024.
This collaboration between the Hungarian Hollywood Council, the city of Mátészalka, and Origo Film Studio aims to bridge Hungarian and international film talents, offering them a platform to showcase their work and discover new opportunities.
Embracing the festival's theme, "Back to the Roots," we honor not only Curtis's heritage but also the foundational spirit of filmmaking, encouraging participants to explore and celebrate their own diverse backgrounds and stories through cinema. The festival features competitions in three main categories: feature films, documentaries, and short films, each with its own grand prize and audience award, underscoring the festival's commitment to recognizing outstanding cinematic achievements across various genres.
Jill Curtis-Weber, the Honorary President of the Jury, Tony Curtis's former wife, contributes to the festival's authentic and respectful atmosphere, ensuring that the event not only celebrates cinematic excellence but also pays homage to Curtis's enduring legacy.
Filmmakers looking to participate can submit their entries until the deadline on August 1, 2024.
