Timothy Morris Richardson is an American cinematographer, actor, and director. The youngest of two siblings, he was raised by a single mother whose discipline and determination shaped the foundation of his artistic work ethic.
His path toward cinematography was ignited after watching Moonlight, a film that shifted the trajectory of his creative life. Timothy went on to earn a Master of Arts degree in Digital Communication from Georgia State University. During his studies, he was selected as one of five cinematographers to attend a private screening of If Beale Street Could Talk and meet James Laxton, ASC, a defining moment that deepened his commitment to visual storytelling. After graduating, he began his career in Atlanta, shooting independent projects and honing his bold, emotionally charged visual style.
Today, Timothy travels nationwide shooting documentaries, narrative films, and music videos. His work is known for its dynamic movement, expressive lighting, and intimate visual language.
In addition to his work behind the camera, Timothy continues to explore the duality of his talents as a performer. His grounded, emotionally centered performances have led him to appear on networks such as BET+, OWN, HBO Max, and TV One. The film B-Boy Blues, directed by Jussie Smollett (Empire) and starring Timothy, made its premiere at the prestigious American Black Film Festival and won the Crowd Favorite award, further solidifying his presence in front of the camera.
Whether shaping a story through the lens or embodying one on screen, Timothy is driven by a commitment to craft, technique, and cinematic storytelling; both in front of the camera and behind it.
Timothy’s on-screen representation is with A.D.S. Management.
