Timo Jacobs, born in Itzehoe, Germany, is a versatile actor, director, and
producer with a dynamic career spanning over two decades. It started 2003
when renowned director Klaus Lemke cast him in "DREI MINUTEN
HEROES", leading to five more collaborative film projects. Trained under
Jobst Langhans at the MTSB, Jacobs quickly established himself in the
German and international film landscape.
His notable performances include roles in "DREILEBEN" series (premiering at
2011 Berlinale and winning German Television Award and Grimme Prize),
"GEGENGERADE" (2011), and "BORNHOLMER STRAßE" (2014), for which
he won a Bambi Award. International credits include Spike Lee's "BUFFALO
SOLDIERS '44", Olivier Assayas' "CARLOS", and Salvatore Mereu's
"ASSANDIRA" at the 2020 Venice Film Festival.
From 2016 to 2021, Jacobs portrayed Inspector Jan Michalski in the ZDF
series "DER KRIMINALIST". As a filmmaker, he founded "Jacobs
Productions" and directed critically acclaimed films like "KLAPPE
COWBOY!" (2012), "MANN IM SPAGAT" (2016), "STAND UP!" (2021) and
IMPOSTORS AND PONIES (2024), which won awards at multiple
international film festivals in Munich, Hof, Max Ophüls Preis and
internationally at Beverly Hills Filmfest, New York, Vancouver, Remi Award
and many more.
Jacobs lately directed "IMPOSTORS AND PONIES" (Hochstabler und
Ponies), a 98-minute tragicomedy exploring identity and personal narratives.
The film was featured at the 58th Hof International Film Festival and received
international recognition such as the Remi Award.
His recent projects include the Netflix series "THE AUSTRIAN CASE" (2024)
and „Deathb of my Youth", a film about child abuse where he both directs
and stars.
Jacobs is a member of the German and European Film Academies and the
German Directors Association.
Throughout his career, Jacobs has been recognized for his versatility, often
serving as actor, director, writer, and producer in the same project. His work
consistently challenges narrative conventions and explores complex human
