We invite South Asian filmmakers to submit stories exploring themes of identity, love, family, and relationships. Focused on the emotional journeys of longing and finding a sense of home, we seek films that reflect the universal struggles of belonging—between cultures, generations, and personal connections. Share your vision of what it means to search for connection and identity.

The winner may have a chance for their film to be screened at this years UK Asian Film Festival.

This festival is in partnership with Tongues on Fire and the UK Asian Film Festival in relation to the AHRC India-UK project 'Connecting Creative Industries and Cultural Heritage: India-UK Film Festival Federation, Youth Curation and Community Co-Creation (2024-27).

UPDATE: We will accept submissions until 12:00pm (GMT) on 24th of Febuary but we might close early if we receive a surplus of submissions so please apply as soon as possible. Any submissions after this time will not be considered.

The winner of the short film festival may have a chance to screen their movie at the UK Asian Film Festival 2025.

1. Film must have a culutral connection to South Asia or South Asian talent in leading creative or production roles. Modern definitions of South Asia include Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Pakistan, Maldives, Nepal and Sri Lanka as the constituent countries.
2. Selection preference would be given to UK Premiers. These are films that will be screened publicly for the first time in the UK.
3. All film submissions must be 10 minutes or under.
4. Films containing propaganda and hatred or division speech will automatically be disqualified.
5. For the selection process, the acceptable film format is DCP. We will also accept Apple Pro Res 422 LT, Apple Pro Res 422 HQ and MP4 High Quality Bit Rate. We would appreciate if submissions had an additional YouTube or Vimeo link to view the media.
6. There is no entry charges for the submissions.
