From Good Homes: Charlie Loves Our Band by Victor Guadagno

A story of the band From Good Homes - the best band you’ve never heard of. In their song “Charlie Hogan”, From Good Homes describe that some nights, “he’s the only person in the stands”. Through decades of performing, in small bars in northern NJ, to some of the biggest venues, supporting some of the biggest artists, the music of From Good Homes persists. This film uncovers the musical and social influences of the late-1980’s and 90's that fueled this band’s long journey, and continues to inspire new “Charlie Hogans” along the way! A celebration of a musical catalog that the world needs to hear!

His mother Gina (Lynn Lowry) is in and out of the hospital and her mind is breaking down, caught between her glory days as a Southern belle and her current state of decay. One night, Billy gets an unexpected visitor: a rat that springs out of his bathroom and bites him. At first, everything seems okay. Billy comes home, drowsy from the tetanus shot, and bonds with Gina's lovely new caregiver Myra (Jess Paul). Then the rat fur appears. It grows out of Billy's skin, then goes away like it was never there. The more Billy looks in the mirror and scratches, the more he's forced to face the unthinkable: he might be turning into a rat. Billy is plunged into a waking nightmare where he slowly discovers the truth about himself as he unleashes the ferocious depths of the human and rodent soul.

Shaunte, a free-spirited girl from Harlem, has fallen for K, a handsome transplant from London, whose mental scars have been awoken by the pandemic. The remedy, Shaunte believes, is outside, everywhere, from medicinal weeds sprouting out of sidewalks in the Bronx, to magic mushrooms in Queens. K is falling in love too, but afraid to leave his apartment. Meanwhile, Larry, Shaunte’s chronically suspicious father, has been running all over NYC looking for her. Larry’s floral business has gone under, and he’s desperate to make amends, but why will no one tell him where she is?

When K finally leaves his apartment, he goes in search of Shaunte with the help of a couple of quirky brujos, or healing witches, who send him on a mind-opening trip. At the same time, Larry winds up in the middle of a rally on the Brooklyn bridge and realizes why he cannot find Shaunte.
