Tyree Brown is an Army combat veteran, former LAPD officer, award-winning filmmaker, podcaster, and screenwriter currently studying Film at The Los Angeles Film School. A native of Southern California, Brown served with Bravo Company, 1st Battalion, 26th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division during combat operations in Iraq before spending more than a decade in law enforcement with the Los Angeles Police Department.
Drawing from his experiences in military service, policing, and the communities he has served, Brown creates character-driven stories that explore justice, sacrifice, memory, and the human cost of history. His work often focuses on overlooked individuals and forgotten events, bringing real-world experiences to the screen through emotionally grounded storytelling.
Brown is the writer of Two Shots, a historical drama based on the true story of Hattie McCray, a 14-year-old Black girl killed by a police officer in 1930 New Orleans. The screenplay has received recognition on the festival circuit, including Semi-Finalist honors at the Cannes World Film Festival, Winner at the Culver City Film Festival, Official Selection at the Golden State Film Festival, and Quarterfinalist status in the Outstanding Screenplays Feature Competition.
In addition to filmmaking, Brown co-hosts the veteran-focused podcast Before I Forget, where he interviews military veterans, first responders, and historical figures to preserve their stories for future generations. Through both film and podcasting, he is dedicated to ensuring that important stories—especially those at risk of being forgotten—continue to be told.
Brown's long-term goal is to create films that combine historical authenticity, emotional depth, and cinematic storytelling while giving voice to people and events often overlooked by history.
