🌍 BREAKING BREAD - 19th EDITION OF TERNI FILM FESTIVAL

🔹 FEATURED FILMS
As a part of the nineteenth edition of Terni Film Festival: Popoli e Religioni, organized
by ISTESS in collaboration with San Martino Association and IDEA Laboratory, which
will take place from 11 to 19 November 2023, we announce a competition for feature
films focusing on spirituality issues, inter-religious relations, education of youth to
volunteering, racism, migration, integration, disability and gender.

Registration for the competition is free of charge and open to everybody, regardless of
age or nationality.

The applications shall be submitted no later than 15th of September 2023.

The format of the works must be exclusively in 4K or Full HD and in MP4 file,
otherwise the application will be disqualified. Shall the film be selected for screening, the
applicant must send it in a DCP format.

All films must have English subtitles. Italian subtitles are welcome.

This year all films that deal with the theme of “Breaking Bread” will have the priority: in
the times following the extreme precariousness caused by war and economic and social
crises and the overcoming of the pandemic, the festival will focus on mutual
relationships, on dialogue and on intercultural understanding and sharing our fears and
hopes, diversity and multiplicity of points of view, in particular war, peace, the climate
emergency, environmental issues, food waste and social exclusion. A special focus will be
dedicated to the birth of the nativity scene in Greccio 800 years ago.

For each submitted work, participants need to provide a signed entry form clearly
indicating the film’s title and the pressbook of the work.

All the materials submitted for competition and selected for screening shall become the
property of the Organization (ISTESS). The selected works shall be screened using the
DCP format.

The results of the film selection shall be communicated by e-mail or phone, in order to
allow the selected authors participation in the awards ceremony.

The International Jury will be composed of journalist, critics and personalities form the
film and entertainment industry.

The winner will be awarded the Angelo di Dominioni for the best film. A Special Jury
will be composed of members of SIGNIS who assign the Signis Award for the best film.
The Artistic Direction will also assign special prizes for the Best Director, Best Actor,
Best Actress, Best Screenplay, Best Soundtrack, Best Cinematography, Best Visual
Effects, Best Editing, Best Scenography and Costumes, and Gastone Moschin Award
for the Cinema in Umbria.

maximum length allowed is 30 minutes. All films must have English subtitles. Italian

otherwise the application will be disqualified. Shall the film be selected for screening, the
applicant must send it in a DCP format.

This year all short films that deal with the theme of “Breaking Bread” will have the

property of the Organization (ISTESS). The selected works shall be screened using the
DCP format.

The results of the film selection shall be communicated by e-mail or phone, in order to

Documentary films lasting between 30 and 60 minutes are allowed. All films must have
English subtitles. Italian subtitles are welcome.

🔹 WORKS OF VIRTUAL REALITY AND AUGMENTED REALITY
In 2015, Terni Film Festival was the first Italian film festival to present an event of
virtual reality, an experience repeated in subsequent editions and since 2020 a
competition for VR works has been officially announced.
As a part of the nineteenth edition of Terni Film Festival: Popoli e Religioni, organized
by ISTESS in collaboration with San Martino Association and IDEA Laboratory, which
will take place from 11 to 19 November 2023, we include in the official international
competition a section reserved for authors who apply this modern technology as a new
means of artistic expression.

Registration for the competition is free of charge and open to everybody, regardless of
age or nationality.

The applications shall be submitted no later than 15th of September 2023.

The maximum length allowed of the works submitted is 20 minutes and they can be
presented in one of the following ways:
- Presentation with the use of VR headset
- three-dimensional installations with different degrees of interaction

We allow creative freedom to all authors although our preference is to the works that
deal with the theme of “Breaking Bread” in the times following the extreme
precariousness caused by war and economic and social crises and the overcoming of the
pandemic, the festival will focus on mutual relationships, on dialogue and on
intercultural understanding and sharing our fears and hopes, diversity and multiplicity of
points of view, in particular war, peace, the climate emergency, environmental issues,
food waste and social exclusion.

A special focus will be dedicated to the birth of the nativity scene in Greccio 800 years
ago.

Works must be uploaded on FilmFreeway already in the VR/360° version, under penalty
of exclusion from the competition

For each submitted work, participants need to provide a signed entry form clearly
indicating the film' s title and the pressbook of the work.

All the materials submitted for competition and selected for screening shall become the
property of the Organization (ISTESS).

The results of the film selection shall be communicated by e-mail or phone, in order to
allow the selected authors participation in the awards ceremony.

L'iscrizione al concorso è gratuita e aperta a tutti, indipendentemente dall'età e dalla nazionalità.

Le candidature dovranno essere presentate entro il 15 settembre 2023.

Il formato delle opere dovrà essere esclusivamente in 4K o Full HD e in file MP4, pena la
squalifica della candidatura. Nel caso in cui il film venga selezionato per la proiezione, il
candidato dovrà inviarlo in formato DCP. Tutti i film devono avere i sottotitoli in inglese. I
sottotitoli in italiano sono ben accetti.

Quest'anno avranno la priorità tutti i film che trattano il tema “Breaking Bread" nei tempi che seguono l'estrema precarietà causate dalla guerra e dalle crisi economiche e sociali e del superamento della pandemia, il festival si concentrerà sulle relazioni reciproche, sul dialogo e sulla comprensione interculturale e sulla condivisione delle nostre paure e delle nostre speranze, sulla diversità e la molteplicità dei punti di vista, in particolare la guerra, la pace, l’emergenza climatica, le questioni ambientali, lo spreco alimentare e l’esclusione sociale. Un focus specifico sarà dedicato agli 800 anni dalla nascita del Presepe a Greccio.

Per ogni opera presentata, i partecipanti devono fornire una scheda di partecipazione firmata che indichi chiaramente il titolo del film e il pressbook dell'opera.

Tutti i materiali presentati al concorso e selezionati per la proiezione diventeranno di proprietà dell'Organizzazione (Istess).

Le opere selezionate saranno proiettate in formato DCP.

I risultati della selezione dei film saranno comunicati via e-mail o telefono, al fine di consentire la partecipazione degli autori selezionati alla cerimonia di premiazione.

La Giuria internazionale sarà composta da giornalisti, critici e personalità del mondo del cinema e dello spettacolo.

Al vincitore sarà assegnato l’Angelo di Dominioni per il miglior film. Una Giuria Speciale sarà composta da membri di Signis International che assegneranno il Premio Signis per il miglior film.
La Direzione Artistica assegnerà inoltre i premi speciali per la Migliore Regia, il Migliore Attore, la Migliore Attrice, la Migliore Sceneggiatura, la Migliore Colonna Sonora, la Migliore
Fotografia, i Migliori Effetti Visivi, il Migliore Montaggio, la Migliore Scenografia e i Migliori
Costumi e il Premio Gastone Moschin per il Cinema in Umbria.

🔹 OPERE DI REALTÀ VIRTUALE E REALTÀ AUMENTATA
Nel 2015 il Terni Film Festival è stato il primo festival cinematografico italiano a presentare un

evento di realtà virtuale, esperienza che si è ripetuta nelle edizioni successive e dal 2020 è stato ufficialmente indetto un concorso per le opere VR.
Nell’ambito della diciannovesima edizione del Terni Film Festival,
organizzato da ISTESS in collaborazione con l'Associazione San Martino e il Laboratorio IDEA, che si svolgerà dal 11 al 19 novembre 2023, viene rinnovato il concorso ufficiale internazionale per la sezione riservata agli autori che applicano questa moderna tecnologia come nuovo mezzo di espressione artistica.

L’iscrizione al concorso è gratuita e aperta a tutti, indipendentemente dall’età e dalla nazionalità.

Le domande di partecipazione dovranno essere presentate entro il 15 settembre 2023.

La durata massima consentita delle opere presentate è di 20 minuti e possono essere presentate
in uno dei seguenti modi:
- presentazione con uso di visori VR
- installazioni tridimensionali con diversi gradi di interazione

Lasciamo libertà creativa a tutti gli autori, anche se la nostra preferenza va alle opere che
trattano il tema “Breaking Bread”, nei tempi che seguono l'estrema precarietà causate dalla
guerra e dalle crisi economiche e sociali e del superamento della pandemia, il festival si
