TAYLOR NIXON BIO (2026)
Taylor Nixon is a New Zealand-based writer and director with a passion for telling stories that connect with and amplify marginalised communities. Taylor began his career working for five years in the production, and art department, on major international projects including Avatar, Megan and Time Bandits. This experience gave him a deep understanding of the filmmaking process and the collaborative demands of high-level production.
Transitioning into freelance writing and directing, Taylor has focused on creating original work while also directing commercials and other professional content. His first short film, Absence of Emily (2021), received recognition on the festival circuit, followed by Roadie in 2022, which won Best Pilot at the New Zealand Web Fest. Taylor then moved full time into directing, capturing commercials and Music Videos in New Zealand and overseas. In 2025, Taylor’s short film TOW won the Vision Fest Award, and caught audience attention online, continuing a track record of self-funded, impactful storytelling.
Most recently, Taylor independently raised NZ$70,000 to produce the 29-episode short-form series Feelings Club, starring Robyn Malcolm, Oscar Kightley, Kimberly Crossman, Michael Hurst, Liv Parker, and Tom Sainsbury among many other great kiwi talent. The series, created on a lean budget, demonstrates Taylor’s ability to manage large-scale projects from concept to delivery.
Driven by a personal history of growing up in a low-income household, with a childhood of ups and downs, Taylor’s work consistently explores themes of resilience, connection, and community. His long-term goal is to become a TV writer and Showrunner, creating original, high-quality stories that push boundaries and expand the landscape of New Zealand storytelling.
