An award winning writer and director, Taja Copeland has developed her voice as a narrative storyteller telling stories across genres to promote conversations on social construct, existentialism, and more. Based in Baltimore, MD and Philadelphia, PA, where she has applied her skillsets in the cinematic arts to independent, major studios, and freelance films for over 5 years.
With a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Film & TV Screenwriting, she currently works as an engagement coordinator within her Alma Mater: Morgan State University, Screenwriting and Animation program, which allows her to mentor and assist students with their productions. She is also the head writer for Philadelphia productions Ten01 Media LLC, spearheading script analysis and writing content for the company.
Through Ten01 Media, awarded funding from the Independent Public Media Fund(2024) with her co-creator Darien Woodard to fund the first season of their episodic series, Queer Memoirs, which will be released in 2026. Her feature film Running Out of Time(2023) has won 3rd place in the 18th Annual Baltimore Screenwriters Competition. Her short film The Death of Us (2021) has won The Underground Studios: Submerged film festival in 2021 and has been selected into several festivals such as The Prince George’s Film Festival and more.
Taja continues to work towards her goals of becoming an acclaimed writer and director by constantly working on projects of her own and with her peers. With a passion for creating heartfelt films centered around existentialism, she has a voice that could transcend the film community.
