Hardly anyone around for this festival. When we arrived they barely acknowledged us when we picked up our badges.

It was nice seeing the movie on a big screen but they need to improve a lot on this festival.

The website in particular is unnecessarily hard to navigate. It seems like they were trying hard to push selling meetup "packages" instead of actually having a festival.

Also, They seemed to have pulled the winners out of a hat.

It wasn't horrible but it wasn't good. I can't say I'd recommend it.

    Response from festival:

We are so sorry that your experience with our festival was not up to your expectations. I am surprised that, when you arrived, we didn't provide you with sufficient acknowledgement when our volunteer presented you with your filmmakers bag and badges. We'll make sure to bare this in mind in the future and strive to do better when possible in communicating with our filmmakers.

We definitely appreciate your critique of the website and, with input from users and supporters as yourself, will be making changes to improve the site and make it more user friendly.

However, we are sorry that you had gotten the impression that our focus is in pushing sales and packages. The reality is we don't push to sell anything to our filmmakers. Filmmakers are the lifeline of our non-profit organization's mission and we would not have lasted 16 years and counting if we did not strive to produce the best film festival possible and were instead focused on peddling sales. In fact, we provide all filmmakers, that attend, with badges that gives them access to all screenings, workshops, after-parties and networking sessions during the festival absolutely free of charge. In fact, our hospitality suite provides complimentary beverages, breakfast items and snacks throughout the five days as well as hot foods and drinks during our Directors Mixer and special networking events, absolutely free of charge to our filmmakers. We do not sell meet-up packages of any kind. Perhaps you somehow misunderstood that we did. Thus, In the future we will make sure to be clearer in what is included.

As for the winners of each category, I realize how disappointing it is when your film isn't selected. But, I assure you that every category is vetted and judged by various industry professionals in their given field using factors much more complex than a hat to select the winners.

We take all input from our filmmakers seriously and will continue to strive to improve in any way we can. Next year, should you have an accepted submission, I invite you to please attend our festival, but also stay for the duration of the festival to experience everything that we have to offer to our filmmakers. I'm sure you will ultimately be impressed should you give it a chance to take it all in. In the meantime, rest assured, we appreciate your input and will always strive to improve in any way possible.
