TJ O’Grady-Peyton is an Irish filmmaker who first gained recognition at the Young Director Awards in Cannes in 2013. He has directed international commercials for clients such as Under Armour, Asics, Peloton, Volkswagen, UEFA, BMW, and the European Union.
In 2018, he participated in a masterclass with Werner Herzog in the Amazon, Peru, and was selected for Les Nuits en Or 2019 by the French Academy of Film. TJ has received awards at prestigious festivals, including the Discovery Award at the Dublin International Film Festival and the Bingham Ray New Talent Award at the Galway Film Fleadh. His films have been showcased at festivals like Tribeca, Clermont-Ferrand, and BFI London.
His short film "Wave" was featured in both The New Yorker and Disney. "Wave" won an Irish Film and Television Award in 2018, and "Silence" earned a nomination in 2021. He became a member of the Directors Guild of America in 2022.
This year, TJ's Screen Ireland-funded short film "Room Taken" won Best Irish Short Film at the Dublin International Film Festival 2024, and Best Short Film at the Cleveland International Film Festival 2024, making the film eligible for Oscar consideration at the 2025 Academy Awards.
