TIC Film Festival launched in 2018 and is now in its 2nd year. The festival is the magic lantern that draws inspiration from the incredibly rich and international history of the docks in Thurrock. Through film, the most powerful and eloquent heights of human imagination are created and infinite landscapes of the mind communicated. TIC Film is a festival where audiences come to discover unexpected visions of filmmakers from all over the world.

TIC Film Festival is a gathering of young and old, experienced and first-timers to showcase their story, talent, and vision through the medium of film.

Our judges are looking for films that have a deep resonance with identity that push the boundaries of storytelling. Films that inspire, question and challenge.

We are looking to programme films that fall under the “Invisible” category. This means the programme is a mix of diverse, censored, banned & low-visibility films.

These films and their invisible filmmakers across the globe now have a festival where they can submit their art and not be marginalised for being misunderstood, or for the sake of more commercial films. There are enough festivals for that. TIC Film has a unique mission in aiming to question and challenge the practice of human rights and freedom of speech.

As well as screenings there will be the opportunity to take part in discussion panels with industry experts, networking and a time to celebrate the award nominees and winners.

TIC Film is in Grays. Physically, it is a town adjacent to the strategic Thurrock ports of the Port of Tilbury and London Gateway. Virtually, it is home to the area’s international pathways of history. This unassuming border along the Thames has embraced the world.

The Port of Tilbury began in 1886, the beginning of the steamship era. It was where ‘Ten Pound Poms’ set off for a new life in Australia. It was also where many immigrants entered, including West Indians on the Empire Windrush in 1948.

Today, Tilbury Cruise Terminal continues to operate as London’s passenger liner terminal and London Gateway berths some of the largest container ships in the world. And since 2017, the Silk Road Train has linked Thurrock with China across the landmass of Eurasia.

TIC Film is that edge where local and international unite.

A trophy & certificate will be awarded to the winners!

Incredibly proud to be a part of this magnificent festival. First class communication and outreach - a real sense of support, interest and encouragement towards independent film makers - and their love of film shines through. Highly recommend applying. Best wishes, Jim
