TARABA HUMAN RIGHTS INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL (TAHRIFF)
TAHRIFF 2026 Theme
“Stories That Unite: Cinema for Humanity”
Concept Note
In a world increasingly divided by conflict, inequality, and cultural misunderstandings, storytelling through cinema offers one of the most powerful tools for healing, dialogue, and transformation.
The Taraba Human Rights International Film Festival (TAHRIFF) 2026 will be held under the theme:
“Stories That Unite: Cinema for Humanity.”
This theme captures the essence of TAHRIFF’s mission—celebrating the shared human experience while amplifying diverse voices from Nigeria, Africa, and around the globe.
It reflects the festival’s commitment to cultural diplomacy, human rights advocacy, and creative empowerment as pathways to peace and sustainable development.
Why this Theme?
Unity Through Storytelling
Cinema transcends boundaries of language, culture, and geography.
By showcasing films from across the world, TAHRIFF fosters unity in diversity and bridges communities through shared narratives.
Human Rights and Human Dignity
At the heart of TAHRIFF is the belief that every story matters.
The 2026 edition will spotlight films that advance justice, dignity, and protection for marginalized groups—women, children, youth, the less privileged, and persons with special needs.
Global Partnerships for Humanity
With the participation of the Social and Cultural Ministry of the Indonesian Embassy in Nigeria, and Georges Jojo Chamchoun (Executive Director of the Asian World Film Festival and Chairman of the Board of TAHRIFF), the festival emphasizes international collaboration and shared responsibility for humanity’s progress.
Youth and Women Empowerment
By engaging young creatives and amplifying women’s voices in film, TAHRIFF continues to serve as a platform for empowerment and leadership in the creative economy.
The Impact
Under this theme, TAHRIFF 2026 will not just be a film festival, but a movement of unity through creativity. It will inspire audiences to see beyond borders, to value humanity above differences, and to work together for a more just and inclusive world.
As Festival Director, Moses V. Samuel affirms:
“Through cinema, we discover that our struggles, hopes, and dreams are interconnected. TAHRIFF 2026 is about telling stories that remind us we are one human family.”
