Sydney Hall is an American Filmmaker, actor and entrepreneur.
Hall completed his schooling at Northwest Catholic High School in West Hartford, Connecticut in 1991. He subsequently attended Howard University in Washington, D.C., where he obtained a BA with the highest honors in his department. He is a member of the Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity.
In 1994, Hall travelled to Soweto in Johannesburg, South Africa as part of the Step Afrika! stepping dance troupe of fraternity brothers.
He lived in South Africa for several years, working as a model and actor. He also owned a nightclub there. Sydney went on to collaborate with South African rapper Linda 'ProKid' Mkhize to create the iconic 'Heads and Tales' album in 2005 as well as his sophomore project ' DNA'.
Singlehandedly these projects were deemed to have changed the landscape of South African Hip Hop.
He played the character of Dr CL Funk in a series of retro television commercials commencing in 2002 for the Chicken Licken fast-food restaurant chain, which won awards in advertising around the world. Dr CL Funk became one of the most recognizable characters in South Africa.
