Visual artist, researcher, and filmmaker, Svetlana Gencheva was born in Sofia in 1981. After obtaining a master's degree in Graphic Design from the National Academy of Arts in Sofia, she spent a decade honing her skills in layout and composition in the fields of advertising and publishing before turning to painting and sequential art. Her artistic career began with her solo exhibition "Essence" in 2009 in Sofia, followed by participation in solo and group exhibitions internationally, including in Barcelona, Bratislava, Luxembourg, and New York. Her most recent exhibitions, which combine oil painting and augmented reality, have taken place in France. After settling in France in 2013, Svetlana earned a Master's in Text and Image from the European School of Image in Angoulême and Poitiers. This period was marked by experimentation and collaboration, which encouraged her to continue her research in the field of sequential art, culminating in the completion of her doctoral thesis at the Catholic University of Louvain, and in the creation of the animated short film "Mythology of My Aquarium.
