In our 5th year, we are happy to announce screening will be ant The Cinematheque and widely broaden our viewership and the reach for your film, and connects to the local filmmaker community.

What started as a celebration of short film grew into a community of film lovers and filmmakers. Sunday Shorts began in 2019. A short film celebration that hopes to shine a light on a lot of new up and comers and help them garner the attention they deserve.

We still have our Summer festival and are an IMDB-Qualifying fest, meaning your awards will go up on IMDB as part of your film page. We have a few thousand in cash prizes, $2500 in film equipment/rentals and a streaming/licensing deal to give away.

This year we are bringing things online. The festival will be viewable as a Pay Per View and then winning Filmmakers and Finalists will be able to have their films as part of our online bank of shorts year-round, which are viewable by our membership, with proceeds going directly back to the filmmakers.

Check our website www.SundayFilmSociety.com for updated info.

There will also be a live in-person Filmmakers Awards Event to make connections with talent and judges and also build a network for future projects, all in a super relaxed no-pressure atmosphere.

Our first round judges are all avid-movie goers and film lovers from all walks of life. They will narrow the choices and then our Industry Judges will make the final selections and award the prizes. Among our Industry Judges are weighted professionals in all departments of the film industry and we even boast an Oscar winner on the panel. Judges for each year will be announced when submission begin.

Any film that scores an initial 3 out of 4 stars on our First Round judging system become Finalists and will be offered a spot on our year-round bank of films, with proceeds going directly to them.

In addition to Category Winners, prizes can be given for Best Director, Best Performer and Best Screenwriting as selected by the Judges. There will be an in-person Filmmakers Awards event after the screening.

Vancouver is Hollywood North and with the amount of films and television series shooting here, we are privy to connecting with top talent in all areas of the film industry. Your work will be seen by people who are connected and who know the business.

We are looking for innovation. Filmmakers who push the envelope by reinterpreting a classic, or someone who reinvents not only the wheel, but the horse, the buggy, the carriage and the world it rides through. We want to see your world.

But we are also a 'second chance' festival. We don't care if your film was made a few years ago. If it didn't receive the attention it deserved, and you'd like another shot, submit. We had a success story with a Comedy winner and now can't think of now giving previously out films a shot.

Most films shd be under 20 mins (but we will look at those a bit longer). Does not need to be a premiere and we accept films showcased elsewhere. We want to give a second chance at notoriety to those gems that may have fallen under the radar.

Shorts of all shapes and sized are welcome from micro shorts to fully narrative 20 minute films. Each category will have it's prize, and be adjudicated by a panel of specially selected judges, all film professionals. The judges for this round will be announced before submissions begin.

Ultimately, we want films that entertain, educate, push the boundaries of filmmaking and introduce us to new voices, new faces and new points of view.
