FOR FLORIDA (USA) HIGH SCHOOL & COLLEGE STUDENTS ONLY*

Celebrating 23 years, the Palm Beach International Film Festival's Student Showcase of Films is the largest statewide film competition and awards show for Florida student filmmakers. The juried competition recognizes outstanding high school and college students by presenting more than $12,500 in scholarships and awards in the following categories: College & High School Feature/Shorts, Animation, Music Video, Commercial/PSA, Environmental PSA, Mental Health Awareness PSA, Screenwriting, Poster Design and the Audience Award competition. Honoring the legacy of Burt Reynolds, the festival also awards an annual scholarship bearing his name, along with the Sara Fuller Scholarship through Film Florida, and new for 2018, the Suzanne Niedland Documentary Scholarship.

Each year, the submitted films are judged by top industry professionals from around the globe and competition finalists are honored at a sizzling live awards show on April 6, 2018, at Lynn University in Boca Raton, Florida. Winning student films will also be screened in their entirety on the “big screen” at the students’ own premiere during Palm Beach International Film Festival.

*FilmFreeway is only part of the submission process. You must also visit the Palm Beach County Film & Television Commission website to submit your APPLICATION and PROOF of Florida student status.

The PBIFF Student Showcase of Films ceremony was an incredibly wonderful experience. Communication between myself and the festival organizers leading up to the event was easy and helpful. The pre and post-show events were an amazing opportunity for networking. The show itself was conducted perfectly. I feel honored to have been apart of such an amazing festival. I highly recommend it to every student filmmaker in the state of Florida.

The Palm Beach SSOF is among the top three film festivals/award ceremonies that I have attended! Their communication of the event details and agenda was abundantly clear in the weeks leading up to the event. They happily answered all of my questions whenever I asked. The value and experience from this festival is worth so much more than the free entry fee for Florida students. If you are a student filmmaker in Florida, do yourself a huge favor and submit to this amazing film showcase!
