River Restoration Northwest (RRNW) is excited to announce that we will be hosting our eighth annual ‘Stories of Our Watersheds” film event virtually in October 2021. Our event features a series of short documentary films that celebrate the different ways we experience, sustain and celebrate our river systems.
RRNW is seeking films that acknowledge the many disciplines, perspectives of the river or watershed restoration industry, watershed stakeholders and river users. Films should be documentary style and be entertaining, educational, and inspirational. We are encouraging films that focus on the theme of Adaptation and Resiliency: The ways we change our landscapes and ourselves to meet the toughest challenges posed by our evolving land use, climate, political, and social systems, and the ways we resist changes to ensure our values and core beliefs remain intact. Films shall not be commercial in nature and must have audio.
Films from the west coast of North America are preferred but are not a requirement. We have received and selected submissions from around the world. Visit our website for a list of films that have been selected in the past: https://www.rrnw.org/2021film/
Run times of 10 minutes or less, per film is preferred, with a maximum length of 20 minutes.
River Restoration Northwest is a nonprofit scientific and educational organization. Our mission is to advance the science and standards of practice of river restoration through an interdisciplinary approach.
An audience selected best in show award will be announced after the events.
Filmmakers of selected films are encouraged to attend in-person events and present their films. For past events we have provided opportunities for a question and answer session and the platform for this activity will be evaluated closer to the date of the event.
