Stefan Meylaers, Hollywood Nominee & Carnegie Hall Artist.
Stefan Meylaers has been spoiling us with music that is a rich balm for the heart & soul for some time now. Best known for his inspiring performances and recordings of his own work, he takes us on a unique journey where magic happens. Classical crossover, characterized by a cinematic signature, which is accessible but at the same time surprisingly original.
Active as a pianist, composer, teacher and producer, he is affiliated with knst.Hasselt (Stedelijk Muziekconservatorium) and UCLL (University Colleges Leuven-Hasselt) and is regularly invited as a guest instructor and jury member. Several nominations at home and abroad are to his credit. He recorded several CDs including "Cinematic Dreams" and "Stefan Meylaers, Portrait of a composer 1 & 2". He wrote music for important competitions such as Dexia Classics and gave performances all over the world. He has already performed twice, both as composer and solo pianist at Carnegie Hall (unique in Belgian music history) and at the United Nations Concert Hall.
In 2016, Stefan Meylaers composed the impressive and critically acclaimed concert spectacle "The Journey, a story about time" performed by more than 150 musicians. Stefan Meylaers is also a committed artist. Compositions such as "Fukushima", "Haiyan" and "New Orleans" bear witness to this. Under his wings as producer and composer, he created the short films "Oculus" (with Leah Thys and Ivan Pecnik), "Veraf" (with Matteo Simoni and Ella-June Henrard) and the music video "Haiyan". He also wrote the music for the short film "In A Landscape”.
In 2017, in collaboration with "best pastry chef in the world" Roger van Damme and porcelain designer Piet Stockmans, he created "Pasión", an ambitious international production about the power of passion. In 2018, he made the short film "The Four Loves" with one of the most important sculptors of our time, Lorenzo Quinn, earning several different nominations worldwide including twice that of best soundtrack. In 2020, the piano album "Meander" was presented to the public. 2021 was the launch of the grand international Musica Magica production "When I Close My Eyes". 2022 is mainly marked by the ABBA tour and further studio recordings with own work including "Once Upon A Time" & "Land Of The Dragons". In 2023, he wrote 3 compositions for Chilean beatboxer Tomás Ferrada and signed a contract with the record label Patiotic Records. In 2024, he collaborated for 2 music videos (Crystal Light & Ray Of Light) with the Crystal Music Company that builds a 'world's unique grand piano: the Crystal Grand Piano. His released also “Colors Of The Amazon,” a composition that fuses indigenous music with European orchestral tradition, beautifully portrayed by Brazilian director Francisco Barboza. The latest project is the collaboration with the prestigious Budapest Scoring Orchestra for the composition “Breath Of Life.”
